YES we got Alpacas but there are with my Sister in CA still. 3 of them. We are doing a bit better now. In remission but gotta go another two years free before we can call it permanent. We REALLY REALLY miss everyone. Want to start meeting other riders up here in the White Mountains. We see plenty riders on the roads but dont know if they live here. Say hello to the Mrs. for me. I miss her!

Can anyone tell me; when looking at google maps, following a road. The road on maps stop but the road seen on satellite continues. What does that mean if anything?

I'll tell her, she will be happy to hear from you. She actually got to ride The Ural last weekend. She is planning a trip for us to Tennessee on the Ural to see our son and his family. Did you know we have a second granddaughter now? She has a real Hawaii birth certificate.

Sometimes they don't bother mapping for less traveled area although it should. The best way to adjust all that is to pinpoint the area you're looking for (where no road are mapped on Google maps) on your GPS, pin few points would be fine, and go recon it to make sure for accessibility, condition, signs etc...You should follow the road (on G.Maps) to make sure it exit somewhere. Then it's worth going for a recon.

JT, I agree with Eddy. Sometimes out in the remote desert, you'll come across a BLM(?) or County(?) sign with a road number when nothing else has indicated a route. My Samsung with OSMAnd+ sometimes doesn't show a track until ya get there.

We know there are lots of tracks in the AZ wilderness which don't show on all the maps. I've had a problem compaing Google maps, OSM+ tracks, and my Garmin Atlas. I've been know to fall back on an Exxon gas station map to find my way.

Lorie & Robin,
Good to hear from you and that things are looking up. Miss riding with you guys.
Those first few photos on this thread are fun and nostalgic to look at. If you get down this way, let us know, maybe we could have a cup of coffee at the Starbucks for old times.
Don

Good to see Robin & Lauri checking in again! Rides to the high country should be starting soon (like now!).

I have a few things to give away or toss... I'll offer them up here before they go away some other way.

Tires - Maxxis Desert IT's - If these look better than what you're running, you're welcome to them:

Boots - Thor Size 13's:

And a few things I don't have pictures of:

- Desktop computer tower - AMD 64 x2 with 2GB ram but no hard drive.
- Speakers - 3-way, 12" woofer type
- DVD recorder - Like a VCR that uses DVDRs.
- Old unused oil in various grades - mostly 10W40, some 5W30, some Rotella etc...

If you want any more details, let me know. I probably have other stuff that I need to get out of my way too. Gotta make space in my garage again!

Aloha from Snowflake, AZ YARDSTICK. Hope all is good for you. Up here in the high country we have had such a weird winter. Hardly any snow at all. Show Low (16 miles from our place) gets into the mid 60's in daytime. Unless a freak cold front comes our way, I may be planting my May seedlings in March. Please some see us if you come this way. Hot coffee and goodies will be waiting for ya
