Have you tried Screwy Leweys Todd? They carry more gear than most places. I have bought boots and pants there.

Of course there is always AZ Tent and Awning.

Don't know about your leather jacket you want. I went with the Darian.

You guys down there are blessed with warm weather. We got snow last night.

I think the Darien would be a little hot around here in the summer.

Reminds me of something you would have seen in Mad Max.

Hey guys... some advice needed...
I've been restoring a 1969 motorcycle for the last couple of years and almost have it to a point where I'm ready to kick it over and see if it runs.

History...
It was bought new by my grandfather for my uncle. My grandfather gave it to me after my uncle grew up and no longer rode it. My dad and I fixed it up and I rode it for several years until I got something bigger. It was then forgotten about and fell into a state of disrepair. Two years ago, I rescued it and have been restoring it. I would like to make it street legal but...

The dilemma...
1. I don't have a title for it or a bill of sale and never did.
2. My grandfather has since passed on.
3. I thought about applying for an abandoned vehicle but the ADOT site says they would make all efforts to contact the previous owners... that would now be my still surviving evil grandmother.

There is a pretty good chance that if she were contacted, she would claim it and give it back to my SOB of an uncle as he is sucking her dry for everything she's got claiming it's his deserved inheritance. He would then take it down to the nearest pawn shop and sell it for whatever he could get for it.

Anybody have any other ideas on how to get it street legal in my name without the risk of ADOT contacting my grandmother?

You can do a bonded title, but there is still the possibility of DMV contacting the previous owner, or making you send a "certified return receipt requested" letter to all previous owners of record in Arizona. My experience is that after a certain period of time, maybe 10 years or so of non-registration, the title fall off of the DMV computer system and shows no record of the vehicle. If this is the case, a bonded title is pretty easy, just jump through a few hoops and post a bond for the valuse of the bike as determined by DMV.
If you need help withn the process shoot me an e-mail, I've bonded several without a problem.

Do you know fur sur it was ever titled? Lots of dirt only bikes never made it that far. With no plates, original owner figured to save the cost of making it "legal".

That's a good question. I do not know. I don't believe it was ever ridden on the street. Could be a glimmer of hope.

I had a quad which came with only a bill of sale, had been sold at least twice before. Found the original owner's warranty card in the tool tube and called him. He said he had sold it for sure, couldn't remember if it had ever been titled.

When I wanted to sell it, carried the bill of sale with VIN number to the AZDOT office. Young lady checked the # against the data base and had no record. If it had been stolen and reported, it would have been in there.

Anyway, I sold it again on a bill of sale, but I've been thru the Bonded Title process with an out of state bike, took about 4 months to jump thru all the hoops. Good luck with yours.
