Nice point of view........... racing 3.2 / adv 4.6. I did not figure it out that way.
thank you.

The SOTO setup (talking about just the look not the components) is one of my favourites.

as well as the precision concepts one

On the other hand, talking about range, this natural colour Clarke setup is nice.

as well as the IMS 4.6 on natural

need more valve help please

got back to the bike today to finish the valve adjustment and am running into trouble. the valves seemed really tight with no play at tdc. so i loosened all lock nuts and began to loosen adjusting screws. and the valves are just following the set screw upward. only giving the correct clearance when set screw is at end of threads. this doesnt seem correct. i am at tdc. any help will be greatly appreciated. and i am a carpenter so longwinded answers are preferred.

Re need more help with the valve clearance problem

Sounds like you may be 360 degrees out of phase.
Remember the crank runs at half cam speed hence four strokes between ignition.

The 'T' mark must be lined up with valves closed (in the up position) not with the valves opened (in the down position)

Try the following method to avoid confusion as it has allways worked for me -
Assuming you have the valve covers off -
Ensure kills switch is set to off
With your hand 'Slowly' push down the kick starter until you see the inlet valve open (go down)
Continue pushing the kick starter slowly until the inlet valve begins to close (come up)
At this point look through the inspection cover on the left crank case and continue turning the crank 'anti clockwise' until the 'T' mark lines up.
This must place the engine at TDC on the compression stroke with valves shut (in the up position)
Set clearances at this point.

Good luck

I read it was better to rotate backwards via the crank to ensure the auto decompression mechanism not engaging and so affecting the measurements.

Talking Iīve got it again

Itīs been 5 years since i sold my former 2000 XR650R. Iīve had other bikes since then but i couldnīt forget the BRP.

An opportunity showed up last week so iīve taken it today.

Well, i still have to do some mods, but this is the 2000 XR650R as iīve bought it today. I didnīt realize the grafitti on the back wall until i saw the pic at home.........

Has 11.000km on it and looks in good shape. former owner didnīt use it too much.

Mods will be:

Rear plate holder .
Front USA headlight.
Clarke 4.3 natural tank.
IMS pro pegs.
ad maybe.........the pro circuit T4, maybe.
