My cali dmv fees are $97 -this is in Stanislaus county.even my 1969 honda sl90 is $80+ .I can remember when the basic fee was $26 a year or something. As far as carbs go I have an eldo sitting around and the stock carb is on my bike.I rebuilt the top end last year .my mods-hot cams stage #1,kibblewhite valves, rechromed cylinder+oem honda piston, new cam chain, early xr400 cdi box,xr's only side panel screen kit.oem muffler with center sawed out.built it this way to run on mexican gas.the carb runs the b53e needle 4th from top,48s pilot,178 main. Its geared 47/15.It runs awesome -but it kills back tires.I just got a kiehin fcr 41 from a 2005 honda crf450 off of fleabay for $100 so i think i will try that after i get a wideband o2 sensor and gauge installed for tuning.

Electrical Help
Hey guys, I've run into a problem I can't seem to figure out and hoping one of you may have been through it before and can help. I've got a XR650L 2008 model and for some reason one day it just stopped getting fire to the plug. I've removed the kick stand safety switch and just wired it so it is "up" all the time. It has been working like that for over a year now so I don't think that was the problem. I figured that maybe the CDI over heated and crapped out so I bought a new one and it still doesn't get any fire to the plug. I decided I'd disassembe the kill switch and make sure that it wasn't malfunctioning and so I ended up just cutting the wires so I could separate them and make sure it's not the problem. Still no fire. Any other insight anyone can offer? I'd really like to figure this out so I know what the issue was but I'm about ready to haul it into the shop just out of lack of patience with it. Thanks for any insight you can give. I did download the electrical circuit so I can hopefully make sense of that. I'm a decent mechanic with the exception of electrical problems. Thanks again for any insight. Hope this finds you with fire to your plug.

Easy mistake
I'm forever frustrated with TT because they run the two bikes together in one thread and the XRR stuff is buried in a mass of steaming XRL stuff none of which is related! And as you'd expect the thread is miles long.

My 2000 BRP is new to me and I took carb off for rebuild/cleaning and this is what I noticed. I dont know what this part is called that is broke off. I couldntn't find a description for it in the shop manual. Obviously someone broke it off. Its the flap that should be sitting on the choke blade. Can someone tell me what this is called and can it be purchased from a dealer?
