Sorry my friend, Ive been away from the pc last couple of days and have been missing the replys to the thread.

I found the 610 to be perfect. Heavy front end is not what I experience at all. Glad you enjoyed the RR.

Thanks for the report. One of the best, picture-wise that I've read. I think it has pushed me over the top to get Sams maps on the way to me and start planning.

Thanks for that great ride report. It's stories like this one that help get us snowbound northerners through the long winter. I watched all your video clips on youtube as well... excellent work! That POV1 camera sure seems to take nice video. Were you pleased with how it worked it out? I may have to get one before I tackle the "Tour of Idaho" next summer.

Thanks again,
Andy

I did it on a 950 in August with another R100GS and R1200GS (still haven't posted my report, I'm a slacker ). Our other friends were on smaller bikes.

I was really glad I took the 950, I enjoyed it more than I would've on a smaller bike, and we did all the difficult sections, excluding one due to time factor.

Nice report.....you're motivating me to work on mine !!

What are your thoughts as to the size of the bikes to do this trip. My riding buddies have a F800GS, 1200GS and KTM 990. To big for this section of the TAT?
I'll have to disagree with some, saying the bikes are too big....but it all depends on skill and experience of the rider.

If you ride challenging, tough stuff a lot on the big bikes, you can do the TAT on them. If you don't, then I wouldn't suggest the big bikes.

Which I think was said.
And Ill ride my 950 almost anywhere, and do, but my 610 was new, a bit more lighter and easier to toss around and therefore fun throughout the trip. Our 950 Super Enduro rider loved it on the trip but not too many guys will out ride this guy on any bike including the big ones.

Great RR Frank....oh, but I guess thats been stated a few times before. But, man, this brings back some sweet memories. I've ridden it Nevada before, with a guide. And I really, really, liked the remoteness and wild west atmosphere. Maybe some day I'll get back out there. Hope to do MOAB area next year.
