Utah Cont

Only 3 of us would ride Eagle Canyon it was decided. Myself, Bruce and DK. Bruce and I would pair up and DK would ride about 1 hour behind us solo. Tony, John and Jody would take another route and meet us that evening in Richfield. Or so we thought. Eagle Canyon is long, and once your in, your in, so if you go, make sure you have enough fuel. Sand is the buzzword in here. Sandy but fun ! Pay attention to your GPS too as navigation can be tricky. Glad I was on my 610
OK in we go !

Popular shot

I just cant imagine the fellas who rode this in July or August. Forget it

Mr.ISDE was far enough ahead of me to get this shot of me climbing the staircase. Flipin fun I tell ya....on the right bike of course

From below. He who hesitates, is destined to try again

Like I said, the temps were fantastic for us. Mid to upper 70's mid day. But this place just screams " one mistake and I'll kill you in mid summer suka"

This was cool. You can see us ride through in the upcoming Utah vid

Here you can see my POV1 mounted on my helmet. I like BigDogs helmet mount better, my way you see the visor in the footage. Me no likey.

Bruce and I take it in, Solitude unmatched...for now anyway

Now after a while you drop into this wash. A small cut, about 100' wide on average. No way out, your in the cut, and it curves back and forth for miles. When Bruce and I come around a cornor, standing there is a black Mustang. Very cool. Our 1st of many wild horse sightings to come. I did capture it on my POV1 and you can also see it on the vid. But many more to come in Nevada.
So anyway, the wild horse is running like a raped ape in front of me but cannot get out of the cut ! Finally it opens a bit and he runs up this very steep wall. We stopped and snapped this photo. He was going like a banshee !

ok this was interesting. After emerging from the wash and around Justen Flats we began to see these boulders everywhere. Weird and cool.

Remote

Getting close to Richfield now

And we arrive around 1600. Like an oasis this town was. Mormans keep it nice, neat and green ! We setup camp at the Best Western for the night. It was our last night in Utah.

ALL right fellas. We spent the night in Richfield Utah as Sam recommends. In fact we overnighted in all of Sams recomendations. Not much choice the further west you go !
Also, Jody would say goodbye today and head for home via Salt Lake City. Tony's plan was to ride one more day with us to Baker Nevada. This particular day would turn out to be one of my favorites ! So as they say "and then there were 5"
Here we are getting ready to shove off.

Richfield btw, for you guys planning a future trip like "The Breeze", Richfield has Walmart, Home Depot, restuarants, it's really civilized compared to the other towns you'll stay in. So if you need anything at this point get it here, because beyond here your going back in time 150 years .

Another note. We again decided to split up for the morning. Bruce and I would stick to the TAT and ride the Paiute Trail which gets tight and a bit technical, the other guys will follow Tony around on a Huegel route which turned out to be fantastic of course. The guys know every dirt road out there I tell ya. He just has no neck

Bruce and I head out

You better have good brakes on this section of the TAT
Riding this part was really, really fun. But if your on a big bike and dont have Bruces talents you may want to go around this section.

1st mechanical mishap. Broken clutch cable. No problem, like a boy scout, I was prepared and had a spare zip tied to the other.
Here I am calling (cannot believe the phone works) Halls Husky in Illinois to overnight ship another spare to an upcoming town.

We didnt get many photos on this section because we were riding like the wind

Tony would lead the others this way. Sweet !

See what I mean about Tony not having a neck ?

To our disbelief, after Bruce and I decended down this monster hill and emerged onto a dirt road, low and behold there was the team !

be back asap. Wife yelling

We continue west
Bruce decides to tighten, then slacken, then tighten, then slacken just hair, his chain

When I looked down at my 276c and it was telling me "next turn 98 miles ahead" I knew we were getting out there ! Holy smoke was this part cool. 6th gear type riding here.

Sevier Lake. Its a dry lake bed. You'll see a lot of this out here. Super cool. Again, July, August ?
The 1st 2 weeks of Sept......perfect.

DK's camera catches a glimps of Cyrstal Peak off in the distance.

When I return, Ill take you to Crystal Peak and over the Utah Nevada border for our overnight in Baker Nv.

Great pictures

Great pictures, thanks for taking the effort to post. I'm now inspired to hit the TAT west of Moab (which is as far as I've been). I like seeing your visor in your videos. I think it adds something, kind of reminding you that you're on a motorcycle. I have my camera mounted on the side of the helmet, but lower down than yours and I might move mine up so I see the visor.

Flash Back

I'm reliving the western TAT thru your post. Makes me want to run it again. Group of four went in early July. Temps weren't that bad--did not really bother us. Now lets see more.
