LOL. Since when is riding a funny looking contraption to San Felipe and eating at The Taco Factory "doing" Baja. I had to laugh at your concern over "shootings" and filling up with "regulated gas" in the US before crossing over. Glad you guys had fun down there but I don't recommend you go south of San Felipe.

Thank you very much for your wonderful report!
I have enjoyed following your report of the Mexico trip.
I have a question: is the Ural reliable (not just on this trip but in general)? I really want to buy one but I'm not much interested in spending all my time wrenching on a bike, although I am a pretty good mechanic. I have read horror stories about Urals in the online forums, although most of the posts were from earlier models and I hear the latest rigs are much better. Anyway, I thought you would give me the straight scoop. Thanks again, Chip |

Ural Quality
They're old tech machines and therefore require more routine maintenance but they're also *very* reliable *IF* you know how to operate it ~ I have two older Ural 650's that have given me sterling service and never left me afoot .
If you're expecting a '' Gas & Go " typ of Moto , buy a Japanese one . |
