***GOT IT***NY METRO DIRT TAG GET***

So kjclark7 spooned on a nice knobbie for me and I needed to go for a test ride on all surfaces.
The new Dunlop 908 brought me to the duck!

***NEW TAG***NEW NY METRO DIRT TAG***NEW TAG***

From one remote dam to another.....

This dam was originally built by Maitland Bleecker to provide water for Tapawingo fishing preserve.

To get there, be warned! The road is very rough with eroded sections and large water crossings. One was deeper than I expected. I passed thru an open and damaged gate.

Photo taken coming out.

View from gate looking up the road.

When you are almost there, the road forks. Bear left!

Pic taken coming out.

So, do you love your SE? Pretty fun bike for the woods, huh? Ready to head down and do some sand in the Pine Barrens? Maybe we should put an SE day together....

Laugh /Threadjack!

Hey all!

Sorry for spamming your thread , but it's for a good cause!

As you are all painfully aware, there's no legal place to ride public land offroad in NY. At this moment, the Freshkills landfill in Doc Gonzo's favorite borough (Staten Island, NJ NY ) is being converted into a public park FOUR TIMES AS BIG as Central Park.

Wouldn't it be nice is a small portion of that new park could be converted to legal motorcycle OHV trails?

To that end, I've created an online petition. Please check it out! Sign it and pass it along if it sounds right to you!

Commissioner for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation:
Create a Motorcycle trail riding park in NYC

Signatures will be sent to the NYC Parks Commissioner.

Mission Failed

Found the gate...

... but could not find the spot. Looked simple enough, but there were a lot of woods roads and trails back there. Got more and more confused, the more I searched around, and ran out of time. Cool spot. Thanks for sharing it.

Looking at the pictures again now, I think I may not have gone far enough. The GPS on my phone seemed to have me jumping around. It seemed like I was way past the lake, so I turned around and starting exploring random roads and trails that headed in the direction I thought I needed to go.

Damn, I see it now on Birds Eye view of Bing.

I was right there. Just needed to go a little further. I found my way to that little pond and thought I had gone to far. I'm busy for the rest of the week, so I probably will not be going back (at least any time soon).

Fellow ADV'rs
MY XR650R was STOLEN from brooklyn NY on FRI/SAT night. Please keep an eye out for it and let me know. At the time it had the clear 4 gal tank on it and heidenau scout tires. the wheels are gold. Ill try to get some pics up. thanks for the help gentleman. and pray for the asshole who took to burn in a fiery death while attempting to harness the greatness that was my XR650R.

Here are the most recent pics of the bike:

Bike has a Florida tag, although that was probably removed. Bike also had some choice goodies, so keep an eye out for people selling XR650R parts, and please shoot me and SpeedoJosh a PM.

Thanks

Once you pass the little pond, you are almost there!

A for effort!

Seriously, Shawn, is it safe to do alone without much talent?

I think you're comment about the water crossings scared some of us off, at least as solo duck hunters...

p.s., I'd need the GPS coordinates for the entry. The rest I could figure out.

I recommend having a good set of knobbies and a friend.

Only Red and Mako would think of doing this on street tires!
