Another Dutch guy here, living just south of Nijmegen and used to regularly ride between here and Zutphen where my girl lives. If it weren't for a ruptured battery I'd still be doing so. In the market for a "new" bike now.
There isn't much dirt around here, some interesting roads though. Like the "zevenheuvelenweg" (Seven Hills road) ![]() It's steep and bendy, you might just be able to get your bike airborn on some of those climbs. Maybe I'll take a camera along for a ride on it some day.

Here are some GPS coordinates you REALLY should give a go: 51.820655,5.920814 51.817387,5.927936 51.742168,5.952398 51.815172,5.922915 Some of the steepest roads I know here (up to 13%). You can do them all in under an hour. Or if you wait until I have a new bike (currently in the market as my ride is shot) I'd gladly ride with you and show you the area. Nijmegen, and especially to it's east and south east is stunning and very hilly. By Dutch standards at least. While looking for pictures I actually came across this (Dutch, sorry) site: www.klimbijnijmegen.nl With a description on almost all the steep inclines here, in categories. It's a bicycle site but don't let that stop you.

Hey there, Nico calling from a firestation in the Amsterdam Bronx :-)

Paddy from the Delta
Hi,
I'm hdpaddy from the delta, aka Rijnmond Area. I've owned a '82 Kawasaki Z750 paralleltwin and a '83 Suzuki GS550. @ the moment i'm saving money for a) a chopper (HD of course) and b) a ADV bike, so i don't ride at all (except on my women , don't let her hear this as it will be my final ride )I'm not sure what ADV bike i will buy, i'm in doubt of a XT 660 tenere and a F800GS, also don't know wich bike there's gonna be first, the chopper or the adv. I came into contact with advrider.com by the thread of "the wrong way round", i've read this thread from beginning to end and was addicted immediately. Fortunately i'm married with 1 child, so it's hard for me to disappear and discover the world on wheels. |
