Next valve adjustment, I'll have a USB port in the glovebox, but that install looks clean.

I've got a nice ticking noise now. I thought it was just the cam chain tensioner but it doesn't go away when the bike warms up. It also ticks faster and slower as the RPM's go up and down. I guess I finally need to do the valves and hope for the best.

Very nice! Enjoy her man!

Here's mine all dirty from a quick 5 day, 3,000km tour. 92,000km on her now still not for sale!

92k! (That's 57k miles for the Americans on here)

Any issues in that time? Also, just curious, when you checked the valves, ever have to replace any shims? The impression I get with this motor is that it's so tightly built, it usually rarely needs them unless you're beating on it constantly.

That's usually what dealers that just charged you for a valve check but did nothing say.

Going from memory, my first valve adjust at 16k, I had 12 valves that were out of spec, 3 that were on the edge, and one that was in spec. After that, they have been holding steady, but I'm past due for another inspect. (79k miles to date.)

The one in my garage does too. I think it is the exhaust manifold. Maybe time to replace the gaskets?
