I managed to spend all day riding down dead end roads in the Umpqua Basin.

Had to do some road clearing...

Saw some pretty flowers...

And saw a boat go under a draw bridge...

All in all not a bad day even if I didn't make it where I wanted to go.

Dodged the rain somewhat successfully; 99 from Tigard to 18 to 101 to Lincoln city, to Florence, and up to the top of 22/20, back down to Detroit, salem, and done. 10 hours, RCMC500 2014 in the books.
It sounds like you had a full day and covered some ground along the way... What is this RCMC500 2014 you speak of..?

Omg

My wife and mother in law are leaving this morning for an Alaska cruise vacation. I just loaded the car for them. Eight bags between them, for a week! What the hell? I can go for a week long bike trip with a 2 liter compression sack for clothes. I'm just glad I don't have to shlep all that stuff onto the boat.

rode around the lake,,northshore road, Lowell to Westfir.
Then Cloverdale to Sears rd, to Cottage groove, to London, to Shoestring road,
stopped to visit Stardust for a minute, memorial is still there.

Then wandered south and east, Drain and north, and worked my way back to Anlauf-Lorraine, teeritorial to Hamm rd, back to creswell, back on 99 north to seavey loop then back to the shop to change bikes. Dropped off the KLR and took the Suzi on a ride to do some tomato shopping,,hit several alleys and 4 stores before I bought one,,bought a package of sliced mushrooms to nestle it into for the alley ride home!
Between D and E is a nice run from 7th to 16th or so.

Between C and D,,better bring a machete for the berry vines!
Bright Oaks Meats has the best steaks in town,,I got a rib steak for tonite,,,MMmmmm! and beers!,,gotta have some beers!
All good!,,and not a chore was considered!
chores will still be there tomorrow,,right!

Yesterday I went out and did about 120m from the house out Ferguson/Hewit and Bellfountain. Turned left on Williams to Alpine/South Fork. Turned right of of south fork just before the Alsea Falls campground and road unnamed BLM roads past Rambo Creek and McCloskey Knob out to Green Peak. I know there was a fire lookout on the top of Green Peak until the late 70's but I missed the turn to the top of the mountain. Guess I'll just have to go back. From there I cut down to Oliver Creek to the Hull-Oaks sawmill, out Dawson back to Bellfountain and retraced my route back to Ferguson where I turned right on Grimes Rd/Mill Pond to the old Hult log pond, out to Horten and home. What a spectacular day. Couldn't have asked for better.

I got good news yesterday that Momma is interested in bike camping with me. Wait, is that good news?
Yeah, so my focus has been turned from being sure I wanted a bigger dirt bike(probably DR650) to maybe I need a more road worthy type ride(small BMW, Versys, etc) again. The percentage of times she'll be along vs only me says dirt bike, making trips comfortable for her is the unknown wild card.

New front pads and DOT4 and braided line on the new to me DR650, alleys were bombed and some lightly used D606's procured- so much better than the KLR...
