Parking????? Where can I park up on the hill. If someone can direct me to a safe spot I will be able to have ice cold refreshments stashed in the van, if we plan it right and include passing by the parking spot somewhere in the middle of the ride.

if you have the adventure pass, i believe you can park it at the mill creek lot.

not sure, maybe you can also park at the hidden springs restaurant (afh) at night. eat lunch or early dinner there and ask for permission to leave the van till you get back. it's close enough to stage your ride from there.

Maple Springs Gate Update!

Just rode out to the ranger station in Silverado Canyon. Sign said the gate was open but the rangers said it was closed and they were going up to open it.

So don't trust the sign in front of the RS. I asked if it would be open all weekend, but they couldn't give me a definite answer. Said it might close sometime Saturday if rain was coming. They don't lock it at night and open again in the morning, however it opens and closes for various reasons as others have found out.

I live close, so I will ride out Friday night to see if it's open at about 9pm. I'll call Rob's cell and leave a message only if its closed. Otherwise assuming no rain Saturday I will be at the gate around 4 am. If it's closed then I will also call Rob's cell, but we should have a plan B. If it's closed we could always meet at the intersection of Main Divide and Ortega Highway.

For non Germans Rob's direct translation to english would be:

"Which for a great idea. I love it, if a plan accumulates"

I forgot to mention that if the gate IS open and for some reason the LA riders aren't there by 6 am. I will leave a trail of the 12 pack I'm bringing up to 4 corners. The beer can sitting on the white gatepost will have the exact time of departure.

we're too poor that we keep the cans for cash....

normally, we place a rock at the base of the post or any landmark to indicate we're gone.

I usually leave a bag of gold dust, or magic wish crystals. But that's the way I roll, woop woop!

Kilroy-

And anyone else. I will Post tomorrow night if gate is closed. Main Divide intersection on Ortega Highway is about a 1/4 up from Hells Kitchen Biker Bar.

That's plan B, but 5am arrivals - 6am departure from that point. Confused?

!0-4?

Thanks Joel, Yes I have the pay to play pass.

I will drive up there and look as this would be the most centralized.

FYI peeps meeting for the "pre-Ride" at Mill Creek/Top of Lynx.....

if i don't make it there by 7, leave without me. it all depends on work and traffic thru L.A. but if all is good i will be there by 6:45-7.
