Thanks mike,
It's a family affair, she's even helping with the "T" supports.
Damn, she's so lucky to have me...

You guys missed the best conditions of the year, so far!
The only track prep that was needed was placing road cones on the ice...that's it!
Top of 5th gear straightaways, full on 3rd gear sweepers, 2nd gear twisties.

Xrayboy (?I think that's his user name) came out and gave it a try, and had a ball doing it.

Any more of you posers coming out tomorrow to give it a whirl????

I have to say thank you rob, it was a blast. His only advice was "one down four up" and away he let me go, in my ski jacket and snowmobile boots, even after I fell on my butt just walking on the ice. It sure was a strange feeling to drive on such a flat surface with no bumps or whoops, and to have more traction on the bike than standing on my feet. It's something that would take some getting used to. I was doing first gear twisties and 3rd gear straights, that was enough for the first time.

Happy to hear the ice is right. Way more fun with no berms to make you fly. It should be just as good tomorrow.

Enjoy it.

Feet up

This is a pretty cool post... I like the track in this pic
Thanx!

Not my pic or track but it's in New Hampshire. Believe it's the MVTR layout last year. A very similar track was set up this year for the annual ride. Finally made it over.

Just wondering what you folks are running for tires? Been ice riding for a few years now. Just learning this year I need some real ice tires.

BTW, loved this video:

The ice tires Robbie uses are built by a pro. Rear is Pirelli MT44 Front is ED011(pretty sure). As an option to the Pirelli I have a Shinko 520. Both are sand type tires. If you build your own order a narrow tire 110 should be enough. My 120 puts the studs really close to the swingarm and the exhaust.

Pro tires are about $1k here so I decided to copy some used up pro tires. IF you go back a bit in this thread I think I went through what is involved. It's hours of work but gratifying when they actually work.

good luck

Wicked Cool!

Thanks Robbie - I WANT ONE!
Me and the boy (TinyTigger) had a great time.
...and thanks to Motorhead and Mrs. Motorhead. I'm continually impressed with the hospitality and comraderie that follows when ADV riders gather.

Cheers

I'd like to give a big thanks to Robbie-O for finding such an awesome place to race at and for letting me rip around on his bike. It was nerve racking but so much fun.
Also to Ian & Suzy for the burgers and drinks, so thoughtful of you.
It was great seeing everyone again and meeting a few new faces.
