This is my first conversion, so it will be a learning process. But so far I ordered a DOT headlight, turn signals, horn, tail/ brake light, keyed ignition, mirrors, and DOT tires ( cheapest I can find because im poor). Still not sure what im going to do as far as the stator issue. I was kinda hoping to use the stock one, but i see a lot of you guys are having to upgrade or get them rewound. Any and all advice welcome.

If your going to ride at night you'll need a stator for sure. I tried stock and just not powerful enough to run a decent headlight. I just got an electrosport for $160 and it works really well. Then sell your stock one on ebay to get a little back. I run kenda k270 tires cheap and i really like them. I eat rear tires constantly no matter how much i spend on them so cheap and decent makes me happy. Are you just gonna run bare bones and stay with ac power? That's what i did and i like it.

Yeah I figured that last bit, I'm asking since I'm doing a 88head in a 87 frame conversion and in need of a mod/fix/whatevs to house a pipe that doesnt hit the shock..

Trailtech racelight with 7" hi/lo conversion and Voyager mounted up, not wired yet. Also have new plastics and seat cover - looking much better!

Wish I could get the tank a bit whiter but it seems that the only option is to buy a new one

Thinking about fabricating a small wind screen to mount on the race light too.

Thanks mate, I'd actually love some of those grey/black tank graphics but can't find them anywhere at the moment.

Yup, it's going to be bare bones for now. My biggest concern is to just get it road ready right now and start logging some miles. Then later on down the line i can change it up. If all goes well, i may be able to attend my very first Roll The Bones Rally next month right here in Cen Tex.

BE CAREFUL!! Thats the way I started with mine 2 summers ago Go slow and build it as you find what your needs become for it while logging the miles. This WAS what mine looked like when purchased:

And now:

it's been a BLAST transforming it into a very road worthy ride. I've logged over 6K miles on it this summer alone

102.4mm pistons

I'm shopping for a 102.4mm piston for an XR600 engine. It seems that only Wiseco now makes that size; JE and XRs Only only list up to 102mm.

Wiseco lists 102.4 pistons for the XRL, rated at 9:1 or 10.5:1 on that crank/rod. Does anyone know what compression they'll give on an XR600? I've read through all the old threads, and the info is contradictory and ambiguous.

That's a nice looking bike AlaskaJeff. And that's my plan as well. Just modify as needed.

Splice it into the red/black signal wire, coming from your stator and going to the cdi
