Just keep after it. Make a list and just check one thing off at a time. It's taken me 3 years to get mine where it is now, and it's still a continual project (getting ready for USD conversion and new set of shoes). I have 3 other vintage-esque bikes that are in the same boat. Just do one thing at a time, and you'll get there.

hmmm hey mike what mods on your bike?

65 is going to be rich as is the 165 main

no matter how much honda wanted to make the 88 bikes perform better...justdo yourself and plop in a 60 or 62 pilot at 2 or so turns out

and for the main needle in 3rd groove(mine says a too) and simply get a 158 or 155main and call it a day

88-90 bikes had dual pipes and honda THOUGHT that because if the long headers you neededed such fat jetting on the main

I was rich all day long with stock main..just go down clean filter and your good to go...

Btw I was at 2000feet and my last jetting mod was to drop the clip to 4th groove and this made my jetting perfectly crisp!

then I switched to a mikuni tm38 that I got for free! jajajaja

The only mod is a Staintune exhaust, and I'm really not sure if it was a mod or not.
I'm getting all my maintance out of the way then I'll tackle the stator when I do the oil change.
New front tire and brakes (disk and rotor), back brake shoes, new plug and going over the wiring harness.
Since I got it I put the baffle back in and adjusted the idle screw, starts cold heaps better, now I just have to cure the hot start.
Oh yeah changed the sprocket count and rear wheel bearings but as mentioned just maintance stuff really.

cylinder heads - difference

Hi guys!
I look at PartNumber XR600 cylinder heads
XR600 88-90 12200-MN1-671
XR600 91-97 12200-MN1-680
XR600 98-00 12200-MAG-A00
and have a question.
How do they differ from each other's heads?
What is the difference?
That's just my curiosity, but the head have different prices!
Who knows the exact answer?
thanks

My worst fear...season ending.

From here;
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835750

causef0rconcern 's bike...

Not my 600, but it's what I fear over time. Some say never carry weight/passengers, others say it's a myth.

Good to bring along materials to make a splint.

See the area highlighted with red? I have a paint chip there too, and a partial crack. Sit and worry about it, or just ride...

Question like to watch singletrack?

Hey all...
My last dualsport ride was with Mr Buzzcut. It was our first meeting and first ride together...
The goal was to revisit the duncan creek portion of the western states trail, which I had not ridden since the days of my main bike being a 74 triumph 500 single. The trail section is 5.5 miles long, but you can't connect with it via ohv only.
Being a lone section away from other trails, I had never been back and only took it that one time.

Now with dual sport action, the goal was to revisit duncan creek. I kinda forgot that the whole area burned about 10 years ago.
In fact, I didn't know that duncan canyon had burned.

This video is from the helmet mounted gopro camera footage that Mr Buzzcut provided me with. I had never dealt with gopro files before and had to get MP4 converters and such.

This is long! But it's really chopped down! Down to 21 minutes out of 1 1/2 hours of footage. This was a 100 mile day. The video trys to show off as much SINGLE TRACK as possable.

Hints...
SINGLE TRACK begins near 4 minutes in...
Mr Buzzcut crashes at 19:30...

Oh boy! a teardown is in the making!
But, I may have more than 1 out of 3 XR's with paint chips showing stress.
The highlighted area I spoke of is on my 92 which see's little action.
Indeed, welded in bracketry would ease my mind. I still wanna get a rear rack someday for the plated bike.

When the time comes Steve, I may be looking for those templates!

Rack

I have a neat rack on my XR that I got a LONG time ago. I have been meaning to send it to ManRacks for him to duplicate. Makes a nice 6 pack carrier.

Does anyone know if you can fit the "bug eye" dual lights from an XLR250 Baja to an XR600 assuming the stator can deal with it.

YES it's been done. Do you have a set? I've been looking to do the same to my 88 but they are VERY HARD to come by.

How about these from a Ruckus? Not quite as sexy as the Baja, but at least you can get them. Uses H4 bulbs too.

Howdy. Here's a few pics of my current and past rides. The white 96 XR600 is my current steed. I've made a few mods on it since I picked it up, and more are in store over the winter. I still have the red (99) 650L, as well.
