Which do you mean exactly? This one? ![]() It's seated correctly. I think I know what happened. While back I took out the oil pump, since I didn't wanna take out the entire clutch etcetera I just slightly bent the internal line to be able to get the pump out. Upon replacing the pump and bending back the line it must have taken a slightly different curvature, resulting in the drivegear rubbing the thing. Yes I know, not how the people at Honda would like to see it done ![]() I gave the internal line a few firm taps with a small nylon hammer to nudge it further into the case a little, now when I replace the gear it appears to run fully free. Not too happy with this and myself though... I'll just file this one under 'live and learn' I guess |

There is the right way to do something and well, everything else.

I'm sure we'll talk about this when I split the case, but if the transmission is fucked as well, then will this become to $$$? We'll see I guess. Re the parts, I was thinking OEM cam (do you or others here suggest the hotcam?). I would like to keep the compression around stock so 9.1-10.5, with the maximum bore out to 100mm. I'm fairly sure it doesn't have the Nickasil lining anymore, my magnet sticks pretty damn well to it. I was probably going to stick with OEM, Pro-X, JE or Wossner although looking at cost (and possibly reliability) maybe just OEM. Can you get that is oversized? Head and base gasket will be OEM, crankcase covers I don't care. Something cheap. I'm still a bit pissed off that I was told (and for that matter the previous owner was told too) that is has a Ballards 630cc kit in it. Lying pricks, a sticker on the swingarm isn't the same as a oversized piston in the bore. John PS. Can you split the crankcase without a splitter? Cause otherwise I'm fuckkkked |

The only reason to pull the stator is if the crank is coming out otherwise leave it in place.

Also, for other people who are going to get the clutch off...you don't need a rattle gun or clutch holding tool. Well at least my dodgy ghetto home version didn't: put it in top gear, apply the rear brake and undo the centre nut. Viola, done. Photos to come soon! |

So after I did a very similar thing with my 6er (got toasty mid July and ran out of oil) , I boxed the motor up left for school and decided to deal with it later as I didn't have the time or money to deal with it then.
So I now have some money to deal with it. I really wish I could take this project on myself, but I don't have the supplies to do it here and I want it to be ready for me when I go home for school. I am thinking that I am going to take it back to the guy that built it back in the 90s and have him do the work unless I find someone else more local to do the work.. I will see if I can dig up my photos of the damage that I found and see what you guys think the guestimated monetary damage will be. I just want her back together so that I can ride. EDIT: Hmm.. The old mechanic is located in Chico now.. Which is pretty close to you mcma111.. I am heading that way in a few weeks anyways. Your 650 rebuild makes me think that I might want you to do the work for me.. PM sent.. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2 Swan3609 screwed with this post 03-16-2013 at 12:43 AM |

Any suggestions on getting it out? It's almost FUBAR, everything I do one more chip comes off...
![]() It is absolutely beyond me why Honda opted for this method, instead of a hex or something

Drill a small hole off to one side, you don't have to go all of the way through and beat it with a punch.

Tried it, no cigar...

Good news is, I found a used one at a wrecker of the old type, i.e. with a hex instead of the slot. Apparently they DO exist
