when I broke my decomp lever and waited for steves, I got a small bmx shorty lever and adapted it and it worked great, it was also springloaded
yes it was big but it sure isnt going to break about piston does wossner do a 10.1 piston, I like them, they are ceramic coated and therefore run cooler... SUPPOSEDLY Ive read however that you HAVE to give them more clearance than even wiseco forged. let us know what you go with captain Im soon for a rebuild yet again, this time with an oil cooler DUH

Hmmm ok thanks for the info everyone. Didn't think about the increased engine braking from higher comp, not that it bothers me but it's just one of those things that never occoured to me!
All those prices I posted are for the pistons shipped to Australia and adjusted for AU dollars. Steve, I quoted the Wossner price from a mob here in Brisbane. After having a look on eBay I found a US seller who can post a 98mm Wossner here for $188AUD. Like Cristian said, I really like the idea of Wosser pistons, German engineered and all that. Plus I'd love to say my engine is 610cc! I've been doing that with the previous 630 kit (before I knew that it wasn't even in there) and people nod apreciateively...it's the little things you know . Getting a 1mm OS brings it to what, 601ish? Doesn't quite have the same ring to it: "bored it out to a 600!' "isn't it already a 600?" ..."uh well stock its a 591 but uh...yeah pretty much" __________________________________________________ _______ But then the fact I'm a poor student and still have to fix the transmission (god that's looking expernsive) makes me remember that for $46 less I can get a high comp Wiseco. Fuel availability is not really an issue then, I was more concerned that I'd be stuck using 98RON exclusively but if it runs fine on 95 then that makes me feel better. At the moment I am leaning towards the Wiseco 11:1, 98mm. Will update the thread if I decide differently. Thanks again for the discussion and info everyone. John |

I have a used XR600 cylinder fitted with a 100mm Wiseco piston that looks damn near new sitting on the work bench.

Get some 600 grit wet and dry sand paper and smooth out the center journal. It's not that bad.

well according to hins measured weights the oem CAST piston is the lightest at 415g without rings, however oem rings are known for being robust and he calculated them to be heavier than others and therefore the cast piston with rings was slightly heavier than the 99mm wossner. alsio the 99m wossner is a different skirtless racing piston design much like a crf piston per say... th 98mm was a full skirt or at least had side skirts and weighed MORE than the 99mm BOTH PISTONS look beitiful and need 3thousands clearance, the 99 can use less at 25. just thought this would be interesting for anybody who is doing the change CAPTAIN? jejeje |

Christian,
I just drop the cylinder and what ever brand piston it may be, Wiseco, JE or Wossner on my machinist's counter and let him do his thing. I've never had a problem with Engine Dynamics work in the thirty years of doing business with Mike. http://www.enginedynamics.com/

that place rocks! just sayin that for those that dont have access to a great machinist or WORSE a damn stubborn one like benno or the one I had to deal with... you need to clarify and have the piston specs on hand so no douche tells you otherwise! jajajaja peace |

Only way the machinist can screw it up is by not reading it. Is this true for all piston manufacturers ?
