Easy test. Take the left side cover off as well as the air filter. Try starting again.

Question Venhill braided lines

got around to checking out the fitment of new brake lines I bought online
made by Venhill.
the brake line itself lines up fine but the small rubber clamp mounts
along the line do not line up with the original mounting points.
It doesnt seem that these are supposed to slide,I figure they are molded
to the line but I havent used too much pressure on them.
have emailed the seller but figured I would check with you guys to see
if anyone else has had similar problem

Regards
Geoff

Taking off the side cover and removing the air filter will lean out the fuel mixture.

HI
Ok , i did it.
When is cold now, its starts from teh 1st kick.
If hot and stoped, is hard to start.

As i do not have auto decompressor anymore, and i still try to manage kick position , may be i kick it too many times and then overfloat?
I just wondering what is happening as before ( before big bore) engine starts every kick when hot ( when cold sometimes it needed some time)

As long as you have the manual you shoiuld be OK. The auto decom does NOT fail. Screw XR's Only.

Im very disapointed of the service, i paid 4 k USD for a motor and exhaust , i explain that im from Poland, far away and there is no one to help me as honda in 1990 was not so popular bike in europe and very rare in Poland ( KTM is a king here), and ask the for full service.
I have imagined that it will be started before sent to me, started and adjusted, velves, jetting , exhaust...
But engine has come even with no oil and it was hard to meka the oil pump working ( thanks to U anyway i did it:) )
And now looks that i have more troubles with that then i used to have.
It need to be started even after drop on dunes , how to make it realible if i can not start it in my garage;(??????????

The good thing about that motor is that it is a beast when it starts, todays bikes can not meet that competotor. 121 kg and long travel ability with such a strong engine....

Hello I have 83' XL600R, pretty much same engine as the XR.

I was riding the bike today and it started to make a loud racheting/bucket of bolts noise, I never heard before. I immediately pulled over and took my helmet off for a listen, as I revved the sound got worse and louder to the point the I thought the engine was about to grenade or something. I shut it off and chill for a few minutes with my buddy. I go to start it about 10 mins later and it fires right up with no noise. I decided to ride it home 40 miles and it doesn't happen again? wtf could that noise of been?

so are you saying that xrsonly sent you the engine complete with the carb installed?

did you at least get the carb manual, and or instruction sheet that comes with what jets are installed etc?

if not your just guessing...no way to jet or fix unless you know what you have

you are just wasting your time

TAKE CARB OFF AND SEE WHAT JETS YOU have(sorry to sound annoying, but its just the only way to fix your situation)

if you dont hav jets do rejet with then you need to order some...

ps. I think xrsonly is overrated especially nowadays, plenty of private builders and or shops that do as good or better personalized work...for less $$$

steves machinist place kicks ass, forget the name...

later

I will check velves.
If i use choke even in half way, bike does not start , is overfoted stright from the beginning.
WOW

mikuni flatslides do NOT like any choke if your temps are say 10c and up...

If I use any choke even igf jetted way lean its too much

are you using the deflooding kick cycle for xrs correctly?

just a thought

HI
I do not use chock now at all, so if is normal for that carb that means that it is not indication of the overfolat
About kick start procedure, i know it well, i have used that bike a year before i have decided to spent a lot of money on that.

I did not get ANY instrucions, only for start procedure for engine to check oil pump. But without that forum help i would never start that thing.
MINUNI come as it is, no isntruction, just only set of jets.

May be i should buy MIKUNI pumper? WHat do u think?
