I shut it off and chill for a few minutes with my buddy. I go to start it about 10 mins later and it fires right up with no noise. I decided to ride it home 40 miles and it doesn't happen again? wtf could that noise of been?
Sounds like the kickstart ratchet with the kickstart midway through the stroke.
Keep an eye on the kickstart return spring.

you lose some weight going to a crf wheel for sure, both the rim, disc and hollow axle weigh less than xr stuff...not to mention spokes and nipples too

all oem discs have a minimum thickness marked on them. I think oem minimum is 3.5mm
No CRF wheels for me, I'm prepping my sumo rims to get anodized gold and have them laced to a pair of XR hubs. :)

Spend the extra money and get stainless spokes and nipples.

Silly rim question

If I were to replace a rim, is it OK to re-use the spokes? It appears they are S/S and in good visual condition or is it better to replace all since it's all apart? Nice looking wheels BTW.

Put a magnet to the spokes. No stick = Stainless. As long as you can un-thread them you should be fine. Make sure that the replacement rin and nipple shank diameter are compatible.

Steve,this looks great !!

I recently purchased a gold anodised rear talon hub from the bay for
$140 with postage and plan to have it laced to a black rim as you have
I know nothing about having wheels built so when it comes time to buying
the rim what measurements are needed, spoke and nipple diameter ?

Regards
Geoff

Voltz,

Over here it's real easy. I just call Buchanan's Spoke & Rim and tell them what I have/want and they send it. Bam...
