The bearing is fairly easy to replace. Push it to one side and there is a fine wire keeper that you pry out with a pick. Then you push the bearing out with a socket in the vise. Probably not part of an overhaul but could be included.

while I'm picking your brains can you tell me if the front guard is mounted
directly with bolts only or are there rubber bushings as part of the mounting bolts etc ?

Are you talking about the bash guard under the frame? Bolts only. The rubber bits are bumpers should it get hit. Two short bolts up front, one by the shift lever and bolt 'n nut by the brake pedal.
