Cool, ordered a new sidestand and associated small parts, spring, bolt, nut etc, from local Honda dealer today for my project XR6. Could have got it all from the bay, but with shipping from the US, the price was pretty close, so chose to keep it local
Engine goes in for new timing chain and bit of a tidy up next week.

after reading your post about the parts that are still available locally I called
my local shop today and ordered rear wheel bearing retainer nut and brake line clips for rear swingarm,I was surprised to find out that these parts are still
available.
hope your engine job goes well

Thanks!

98mm gives you about 600cc, 99mm gives you 615cc and 100mm gives 628cc (the common 630 kit that Ballard's used to sell).

I said mine was a '99mm' Wossner...that's not entirely true, its a 99.78mm Wossner or something like that. Very close to 100mm.

Should get a XL600 barrel and piston.
XL barrel is 100mm bore

Steve, can you give me a bit more info about the XL barrel,I assume being a larger diameter than the XR600
at 100 mm bore it would have more meat remaining than an overbored XR600 unit ?
seems to be a better way to go if this is the case ?

I'm pretty darn sure that the case hole size is the same for the XR600 as the XL600. I've gotten rid of all of my XL and XR cylinders so I don't have anything to measure except a set of XR cases. I do know when I put the 102mm piston in my XR that it required a larger sleeve.

Naturally right after I dump my savings into getting my motor running again, a guy throws up some goodies on Craigslist locally.

I have the stock tank on my bike right now and I want something bigger. This guy wants $150 for a 5.6 gal acerbis tank that is in good condition.

Anyone ever use one of these tanks? I know that this big of a tank is going to hurt the trails ability of my bike putting that much gas that high up, but makes it into a long range adventure monster for some of my dual sport adventures.

Bigger then I was hoping for but price is right.. What do you guys have to say about big tanks?
