Mine doesnt hit the frame

Well worth doing mate.

Some details in my thread:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...610778&page=20

I've managed to do it with just the standard XR600 carb-head boot, you can get around the frame contact issue by tilting the carb a bit. I might try and get a hold of a XR650L boot though and see if it's better.

You'll have to mold your fuel tank around the top of the carb.

fcrmx40 of a crf450. Works fine. Cold start is one kick, hot also. Only If I let it stall unintentionally I need the hotstart..

top speed was 140km/h on the dyno running 14/43 sprockets..

still need to adjust the accelerator pump. when suddenly given WOT it bogs for a split second.

Speaking of big headlights...

Since I put the Trailtech race light on, I get some head shake beyond about 105km/hr.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Ok, so I've now down 100km on the rebuild and it seems fine, about to change the oil and filter at the 150km mark (roughly 100 miles). Thought I heard a rattle every now and then but realized it was the kickstart rattling against the frame. Put some material there and it went away.

So now onto the jetting etc. People who are really sick of this skip over it, that's fine. Preferably Christian or another dual header person, Ive currently got:
  • the stock twin header set up from the 88-90 bikes
  • aftermarket air filter (twin air)
  • don't have a snorkel on the airbox, but hasn't been butchered anymore than that
  • Staintune exhuast
  • 100mm Wossner piston, stock compression
  • And the bike has a 165 main, and a 62 slow.

Here's a pic of the plug after the break-in riding, a lot of throttle and compression braking, almost no idling. Looks rich yeah? Thoughts?

Benno.h, it maybe 'cause you are running one mirror which (IMO) upsets the steering at decent speed. Perhaps this is just amplified by the bigger head light? Put two on, or take one off for a easy peasy test?

Roost.
