You sound like you want to lenghthen the seat to the back right? That's not a bad idea. Or I wonder about one of those little passenger seats for a Harley.

I'm 6' 5'' , I usually sit midway between where the two of you are in the pic. When I ride my 6 year old , he sits in front of me and holds onto the crossbar. He's getting too tall , we're starting to bump helmets. He's almost ready for the back.

I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

It doesn't have a spedometer (installed), or a key switch. Or, come to think of it, a horn. I noticed that piece on the end of the exhaust too. It does look OEM, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the info on the oil leak, and the welcome. It doesn't look like it's too bad when the bike is off. There were no puddles in the garage this morning.

GREAT to see another 88 in such good shape and on the road! As Nick said there are quite a few of us 88'ers around. Mine was pretty stock looking when I got it too. But it's made quite a transformation ofer the last couple years...Be careful and have fun with it. Feel free to pick our brains on mods or whatever.

Saturday nights is a local unofficial bike meet in a parking lot around here. My wife usually wears her pink Icon jacket , jeans and high heel boots.

My 88 doesn't have passenger pegs so I don't have to worry about anyone else riding with me. With my 36" inseam legs I sit all the way on the back of the seat as it is anyway
At least she is wearing a helmet............ can't say much about the rest of her RIDING GEAR

Here's a question for you guys.

Is the '88 a more popular year for XR600's than other years?

No. The more desireable models had rear disc brakes and cartridge forks.

Think you would agree that her riding equipment is OK that you tried to tell her that she can not ware her dress on the friends wedding! I almost had to ware a helmet at home for that .

Second thing, i'll make a lover set of footpegs for her! Think it will be much easier for her.

And the third, has anyone lowered the front pegs? Ideas?

probably not for the reasons thumperama stated BUT our 88's are the first year of the single carb and new styling I would LOVE to have a rear disc, and the forks have never been an issue with my riding style. To each his own

USD Conversion on an 87 XR 600R

Can someone point me to a thread on USD or offer any suggestions? Will a set of fork legs from the 90s slide into the existing triples?
Thanks
