2011 Oct FallColour ride...

Our Valkyrie group that we ride with was having the annual Fall colour ride…
We all met up at Phillips Motel..

The rains stopped just as we where ready to leave the farm..

It’s amazing what a difference a week or two makes…
Our little bridge really shows the great reds…

Our main road was spectator…

This is my favorite group of trees coming into Tazewell..

This time we took the main roads ,so no back way in…

I just love taking picks of the mountains…..

There’s my Honey ..Note he’s not loaded down as always…
moteling it for the weekend..

It was a tad windy out, But the sky’s where blue …

I was really enjoying our ride ..It was such a great day ...

It's so cool how the clouds put there grand shadows on the mountains below..

The clouds where really booking across the sky…With the front moving in to bring us a great clear weekend..

More is More…..

We where meeting up with our buddy BigTom and his friend, Hmmm don’t know his name as of yet…
The plan was to meet in Johnson city and grab some dinner..A the Chinese restaurant.. HB and I was a tad early…
They arrived only 20 min later….Tummies full and ready to get it down the road..

BigTom And his Valk ..

FON1961 aka Paul and his new to him Valk…

Just more fall shots…

A little cropping and this is a nice shot..

We grabbed a snack and fueled the bikes…For the last leg of the ride..

Road as far as the eyes can see..

Coming in to Robbinsville area….I have always liked this little shed..

Wow a bunch of our buddies had arrived all ready

OK know you can see why BigTom is Big Tom… And FON1961 well fits him…He’s taller then Big Tom !!!
FON stands for Freak Of Nature… Yes they sure did make HB & I feel real tiny.. HB is 6’0

HB & I shared a cabin with Tom and Paul.. We had a nice Bike port…

Up top both fire pits where going strong…As it was a little chilly...

Stay tuned for Part 2 ……

OK Part 2 From the Fall Colour ride.....LONG ....

It was a huge group for the Fall Ride…And a bunch of us ,just didn't feel like doing that this trip..
SO we split off with a few of our buddies and did our own thing…
It was a chilly morning .. We all felt like heading up to the skyway..
We had a total of 7 bikes, and that included HB and I...
A nice group,for a fall ride....

The views are always great..

But as we climbed higher and higher in elevation, the group was getting cold ..

So Highbinder pulled off as soon as he spotted one of the few pull off on the Cherohala..

It was also a time to just warm up and chat, and talk about where to head next..
WE had just been in the area 2 weeks earlier so they all said lets see where you had been..

So we headed to the Goforth River..

As it warmed up ,the river was fulled with kayakers..
They remind me of ducks floating down river..

They don’t always stay straight? Some go sideways??

We heard it told that they have numbers on the bottoms ..

Oh look Rafters too…

This was a good time to take a break and watch the antics on the river…And shed some ..

We all looked at each other and headed down the road to a parking area…

Then Gordon saw this one and heard if you throw rocks you can knock it over and win a prize…

Oh dang it got away .. And we couldn't see if we won …

Then one of our buddies asked these rafters if they had any grass !!!
They just hurried their raft into the water ,and wanted to get away from the crazy bikers

There was a really cool foot bridge..

At the gift shop and welcome center to the 1996 Olympics water park..

There was a cool man made pond..

Then we went to check out the cool bridge…

That’s me and Carolina Girl and BigTom.. Heck you can barely see us …

The bridge has a cool Arch ..

Then we saw this Big foot on the bridge .. LOL That’s not a bigfoot that FON1061

Well after all the wondering around we all started to get hungry…
We found a place to The Copper Kettle..
Not bad they gave us a room in the back…So we could laugh and talk…

Bellies full and bikes refueled,it was time to ride some more..

Our group of riders..

Lucky 13 and Meanstreak aka Gordon & Janet

Detn8er aka Mark he blows things up for a living..

I wish I had grabed a few more Pic of our group..
Just a cool mirror shot ..

The corn was as high as a clergy mans eye…

Yup and they are harvesting..

We are rolling down this highway and see a cool store .. So we made a U turn

This pink.... Oh pardon me Raspberry car is what caught our eyes..

Rent a Harley ?? LOL…. Gordon is a hoot…

They had a lot of cool things at this place..

BigTom and FON sure makes this big bike look smaller…

They had a dragon on the top of the building..

Other guests sitting on the bench in front of the store...

Got to take the time for that group shot..

Dang it Mark.. We had to take the pix again…

Well we all enjoyed this stop…

Rolling once again…

Saw this cool covered bridge that leads you to a Church..

Big foot has children and they all ride Valkyries …

That’s Gig he likes to think he’s bat man..LOL Well at least that’s what Highbinder thinks..

Can you tell what he likes to drink?

It’s funny how short people always want to take there Pix with a tall person …
Paul 6.8 ….Gordon 5.6 ….Me 5.0

Sunday morning … Saying our Goodbyes and see ya’s next time…

That’s my buddy Normandog aka Ronnie His mate is Carolina Girl..

That’s Flask hooking up his bike… He’s from FL…

I’m telling Mark to have a safe trip back to SC… And it was good to see him again..

He keeps his bike really clean..

He’s behind me isn't he…. LOL Well ya had to be there… It was funny…

We always have a great time with our Valk group…
Hmmmm I just realized our good friend from NM Bandit didn't get in any of the photos…
I was really surprised that the cottage’s where as nice as they are..
We had always stayed up to in old rooms…. But the cottages are in much nicer shape..
Well that takes care of Oct ….

Stay tuned for the Nov ride to Bama…..

Thanks B...

Well I have finally finished my RR from November...

Our good friends from TX and us just wanted to see each other one more time before winter sets in..
SO with deep thought we all felt meeting in Alabama would be a good choice..
Now where in ‘Bama.. We said hey we have some other friends that we haven’t seen in years..
So lets meet in Cullman Al… Cool… So Nov 5 was the choice and a few days…
Yes we all didn't need to go on a weekend.. Plus we wanted to make sure The DownTown Grill would be opened...

We did our chores and hit the road… Our first fuel stop… This was also a the first long trip for my GreenBeast after it sat for almost 2 yrs.
It needed shocks and a few other thing real bad… SO with that fixed it was time to stretch it’s legs…

We stopped for the night in Ft.Payne, there was a nice Chinese restaurant there that we remembered it being pretty good..
Well they had closed down…Bummer.. So it was Mexican food …

The next morning we hit the road and stopped at this little place for a mid morning snack..It's run by a bunch of ladies…And all very nice...

It was right outside of Albertville , AL

The fall colours were just starting to really pop…In Alabama..

Sometimes I have to get a nice shot of my Honey and a pop of Fall colour..

We rode through towns like HollyPond

And cotton fields..

And This place High Cotton..

And Huge Bales of cotton...

Saw this nice homestead..

Kudzu its every where…

RT 75 had very little traffic on it…We have been on it before...

And some cool places to see along the way ….

Another nice place…

I like old barns, I sure do miss ours…It was all wormy chestnut 2 stories..and huge... Yuppers I miss that barn

It was nice taking the back way into Cullman…

We both really needed this ride before winter takes it's grip on our mountain..

The rolling hills of Bama…

We knew we were getting close to Cullman…And getting excited ...

WOW !!! All the land makes that we knew are all gone !!!

They had that bad twister roll into town..That spring !!!

Homes and lives gone….Just uprooted…Very sad,but they are rebuilding...

All kinds of buildings missing …

We rolled into Cullman , and went right to our Friends place.. The Down Town Grill….That if you ever get a chance to go through Cullman,Al. Stop in they have some awesome food..

Highbinder called our buddy MaverickValk to let him know we made it, and we are at Wayne’s …(Downtown Grill) HB on a cell phone is rare....

WingHot (Wayne) The owner of the Grill was tickled to see us.. We hadn't seen Wayne and his family in a few years…
He took us across the street to get a birds eye view of the town..

I had to get this shot of The DownTown Grill from up here…Oh wow cool...

The photos really doesn't show how bad it was ,till you have someone pointing the things out..

This Church was the only one that wasn't touch all the other ones had damage in one way or another I think there is something like 15 Churches…

It was hard for Wayne to visit .. Every now and then he had to run the business ….

He and his wife Robin have a new grand baby,he made an appearance…

Our buddy that HB had called showed up.. MaverickValk (Leon)

So the guys did some catching up…

Time for some of The Grills most excellent food….. Burger and Cheesy fries..
I had a salad so I didn't think we needed a photo of that.....

Also Fried Green tomatoes..

Oops I didn't get a pic of the fried strawberry short cake & fried Twinkies...

Hey The DownTown Grill now has Beer on tap !!!! Cool !!!!!!

Another one of our Bama buddies showed up on his Kaw…He has a Valk as well..
But SlowRoad said he got this one just for hopping around town…He’s still working on it…

It was time for us to get our room down at the Days inn...

And see what is going on with our friends from TX….

Wayne said he had a surprise for us ….
Can’t wait to see what it is ….
Our friends from TX. Made it to Cullman, with out any woes…

Stay tunes for part 2 of our Ride to Cullman AL……

Was on one of my other forums and we all had been talking about first animal kills with a using a gun.... Now with farm life you know there is some kind of killing .. From putting one out of it's misery or old age...
Or for food....Now my mate does the main killing.. Not that I can't do it .. But why when I have HB ...

There are some killings that I do... On the birds that I use to raise..
That mainly consisted of strangling/chopping heads off
ducks,turkeys,chickens.. I did kill 9 huge turkeys one year .. Half of them dressed out 60 LBS.. yes That is NOT a typo.. They are called Broad Whites,
and man oh man do them Toms get big and fast!!! Ok back to the story...
The only killing with a gun I have done was ................

We had 29 birds 25 chickens & 4 roosters ,and one night a mink got into the coop.. That first night it took 14 birds ,They just slit the throats drink some warm blood and kill the next one sitting on the roost ..
When I walk in the coop the horror on the live birds faces is really something.. They really are freaked out to say the least...Let alone the Goat that lived with them... The pile under the roost was a crying shame..

The second night it took another 8 ... At this point I left the coop door open so the birds could make their way out... But Chickens don't see well in the dark and that's why they roost... HB got a carnivore trap (not something I really approve of but.... I wanted to get this Mink! ),we put it in a spot that we thought the little bastard was getting in or out ...

The next morning I was going in to milk the goat and yup he did it again 2 more this time .. But he made 1 fatal mistake ,he stepped in the trap with a hind leg,he was trying to pull the bird out.. Half the birds didn't stay in the coop that night, that's why only 2 had been taken.. I milked the Goat and went back in the house to tell HB about it ,it's 5 am now ... He's in bed I wake him and say what do I do ???
He said get your .22 and take him out, he rolled back over to sleep more ...
So That's what I did ... Grabbed the .22 nylon..
Walked back to the coop put it to it's shoulder and pop.... I was so proud that I killed the little bastard that killed almost my whole flock of chickens ..

Now I didn't raise just plain old birds I had show chickens still.. Fancy birds ... But good egg layers... The 5 that was left 3 hens and 2 roosters. Never went back to the coop , So yes birds are not as dumb as most think... I skinned that Mink, kept it's pelt in the deep freeze for lol over 20+ yrs. until 6 yrs ago....Gee that was 26 yrs ago that I killed that mink...

That next next spring my chickens where rebuilding the brood had 2 broods of chicks.. We had a Muskrat going after the baby chicks in the main barn.
This was in broad day light... I was cleaning the stalls so I had a pitchfork in my hand. The Muskrat didn't see me But I saw him .. He was behind the big barn door I pinned him there and took that fork and stab him with it..
Ya know to hold him in place..This was a big Muskrat to he did move that fork a bit while I ran to get and grabbed the 40# tamping bar that ya use to pound the dirt around posts ,and well you guessed it I bashed his head in... Hey he was after my baby chicks!! And I wasn't going to let any stinking Muskrat eat them..

Nope I didn't keep that pelt I let the foxes have it...

Ah yes the good old farm life...It's never a dull moment ...

PS... When I would kill my birds,Ducks,turkeys,chickens.. I would put a Seagrams Royal crown purple bag over their heads..
Hey I raised all of them birds I didn't want them to see what was coming..
I would say a little

Ok Part 2 is done...

The next day turned out to be grand weather ..
It was just perfect for a ride around the Alabama countryside…

Here was Wayne’s surprise he bought another bike!!!An ST this time..
He’s had 2 or 3 Valks and a GS… It was so good to see him back on a bike..

He said he knew that after not having a bike for 3 yrs, he wanted to get another one…
LOL.. I think knowing with us coming down he was itching to ride with us…
Well he took us all down the cool back roads…WE really got to see the Beauty
That is Alabama…

LOL ya know I would grab a shot of livestock..

Some really cool rocks..

He thought he would take us to the Shrine…Of course the back way…

You pass at least a mile or more of white fencing on both sides of the road then this !! It sure is a grand entrance..

Once you park, This place awaits you…

I have been there before and it’s really a cool place. This is across the grand court yard..

Now the court yard is really something to see…The stature is and a Child shall lead them..

We walked up to the castle and the door pulls are just wow….

Now the real treat is we had NEVER been inside.. So this was our first time in the buildings !!
Lets take a peek….The 3 Elks coat of arms..

This table greets you when you walk in…

And then you turn around and Armor !! You are brought back in to time …

Flamingo Babe and Knights…

They had a little gift shop inside ….Cool… A dragon rider has to take a pic of a slayer.. Poor Dragon

From what I saw with all the Armor ..Knights must have been small…I believe Charlyne & I could fit in most of it..

LOL the Ladies room was just as grand ….

Highbinder & HotGlue…

More Holiness.. I mean just look at this stuff !!!

And this pew was spectacular !!

We have to get that group shot inside…Hmm I guess I should have Wayne move over a tad... This was really a cool place..
And sharing it with friends just made it all the better...

One more look around the outside …

We walked to the other side of the courtyard…
You are NOT allowed to take photos in side the chapel..
But I'll tell you it shined it really shined....
And all the doors had cool castings on them.. I liked this one…

And we felt we better hit the road …
Wayne wanted to take us to the Covered Bridge…Horton Mill bridge..

You use to be able to ride in it .. But it was starting to bow real bad…So now you can only walk inside it..

I found this inside.. Boozefighters 73…It’s one of the oldest 1% MC names…

A nice side shot of the Bridge

After the Bridge ,We all went the Back way to Barbers…

More cool views of Bama..

Mark & Charlyne had never been to Barbers.. So we had to go….
HB and I have been there a few time but always enjoy it….
The group shot at Barbers..

Lets get inside …
A nice Norton…My older brother had an old Norton Comando..

A 4 wheeled moto carriage…

A weird looking BMW … The funny thing we saw something like it on the back road parked at a house...

I really like the colour of this Busa…

I have always liked the CBX..

Hmmm I could use this for the up coming winter …

Hey Cuttle I took this shot for you…A Marini …

I like Hacks This green one is cool..

How could I not have a pic of the Vincent Black Lighting.. My older Brother had one many years ago as well..

This is my fav Hack..

You know I would have to post this Valk it has only 10 miles on it!!!! A far cry from my valks 125K and 151K...

A cool Scoot..Valmoble…

Mark said this is JUST like the one that hangs inside his building. I'll get a pic of it this year..
I just don’t think it’s in the same condition. If I can recall...

A little shot of Neon and we are gone…

It was starting to get late so we had to get it down the road …

Wayne had called Frog his Brother and we all went out to supper…This is Frog’s daughter..

I consider Frog my twin brother from another mother.. We are both born on the same day Jan 4…

Wayne's wife Robin and his son showed up as well…This is where he broke the news to her about the ST .. He can't get anything by her ..
She said when she had pulled into the parking lot ,She said to herself I wonder if that's my husbands bike?

This is just a cool glass box of moths and butterflies..

The last pop of colour…

On the trip home I didn't take many pic . Just this one of the Chicken house and cattle..

It was so hard to say our good byes to our friends… Wayne, Robin and Frog we said it after supper…

And Mark and Charlyne we said in the morning … It was raining when we left HB and I had hoped to ride out of it ..
And we did…Mark and Charlyne I fear was not as lucky….
But we all had no intentions of that spoiling our fantastic weekend with good friends …..
And wonderful memories to think back on …..

Till next time …..
I’ll have to put up a few from this winter and farm life…

Here's a little something I wrote back 9/27/07

TheBeast turns 120K

Riding with my riding partner side by side...As always..
We had just finished dinner at Lake Witten (cool twisties to the lake) only 15 miles from the farm ...
Then we took a short ride to Pounding Mill,Va....

Very quietly today... At 3:30 pm on US 460.....
No photos were taken today.....

It just hummed right through the time slot...
LOL... I did watch it with anticipation....
As it rolled from 119999-120000.....
Even stood up in the irons and cheered my little cheer & dance......
I know it's not a real big deal...
There are a lot of Valks that have much higher odometer readings...
But this one is mine!!!

And all in all it has been trouble free...
Ok it likes to eat up batteries...So what!!! Really no biggie...
It is going to have a mess of work done this winter, but hey bearings & u-joints do wear out...

It has taken me to a whole lot of great and fantastic places...
Have met a lot of great people ~ some even share the same enthusiasm with their Valk...
Been across this great country 4 or 5 times now...
It loves adventures and I just love riding the Hell out of it...
And its days are not yet over, not by a long shot....
Even completed a solo S.S., with it...
Yes I have TheBlack in the wings...
But it's NOT TheBEAST....
Yeah yeah I know it's just a bike..... But this one just fits...

I looked at my old title, and TheBeast had 15524 on it when I bought it... April 23, 2002.....

It has taken care of me very well over the years...
LOL... It has even let Highbinder ride it for a total 180 miles...
It has its war wounds and road scars.... They give it character...its still a five to ten footer...
It has changed some what over the years...And also sounds different now.....
It has won a few trophies ....
The most memorable one was the Best in show at the Region N Goldwing Rally... The most fun was The Albuquerque Blast...

It has gone through , snow & sleet, floods and mud slides,
saltflats and desert sands.... I have always enjoyed its power!! Heck I love its power....

Hmmmm funny I guess it really wasn't quite...
She Drives Me Crazy was blasting from the speakers...
hahaha What else would I be playing at that time...

The photo was taken in 07 coming down from Glacier Point in Yosemite...

Till Next Time.
Tracy

Edit... This same bike as of today has 151,790K
