The headlight, taillight, and bars are one offs or from different bikes. A few homemade brackets, custom wire routing, etc. Need to take a grinder to her next because I rather crudely hacksawed off some extraneous tabs and mounts and have some spots to smooth out and paint. I want to find some longer forks that will fit my triple and a big front wheel. And then raise my rear end up possibly with a shock swap and linkage modification... maybe. I don't know. Depends on how cheap I can get a front end that fits mostly. A few inches in the front and rear along with a bigger front wheel and some more aggressive tires and I think I could hang with the big boys. It's geared stock well enough to climb damn near anything--top speed in first is 35mph.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a handlebar mounted accessory switch panel? I saw that Kurt had one on his old Connie, but can't find ANYTHING online. I just need something small that has three simple switches. Thanks!

Ric,

I made that little switch set up, sourced the parts from Radio Shack & Newark (on-line), all three of those light weight switches contolled either 30 or 50 amp relays attached to the back of the battery box. Attached the little switch box to the bottom of the left hand switch cluster with HD double sided tape.

what's it for, the GS? I have no idea if this would work for you or not, but highway dirtbikes sells cool dash/accessory panels that doubles as a top bar clamp. Has spots for trailtech speedos, led indicators, switches, ipod remotes, etc. looking through the site, it's hard to visualize how all their pieces and parts work together without looking at the picture gallery..

here's a gallery shot..

Day 3 of class was a dual-sport ride yesterday from Greer SC to Brevard NC and back. 70+ in December, mountain twisties, BRP-like views of Table Rock Reservoir, miles of fun logging roads to shake rattle and roll on, bridges dating from 1820, waterfalls... And only 5-ish hours from home. !

Eddy, Todd, et al. -- re: taking the classes you have in mind in January (or any other winter month)... if you can follow the weather vs. class schedule and decide closer to date whether the temps look agreeable, I'd recommend considering it. They noted that they offer classes year round, and that class sizes fall off considerably during the winter. My class consisted of three instructors (Liz Allen lead instructor, Bill Conger and Rob Bechard co-instructing) and two students. Can't beat ratios like that in terms of crazy safe spacing, loads of opportunity to practice each exercise until long after your muscles are over it, access to instructors for Q&A, etc. I was very pleased with the experience.

Edit: Eddy - Bill says hello.

WOW! That's something to seriously consider! I will have a look at the schedule. Would anybody else besides Todd consider going down in Jan/Feb for the three day school?

Day #1 Street skills, Day #2 Enduro/off-road skills Day #3 Beautiful Dual Sport Ride $1380. Includes bike rental and lessons from accomplished professional bike/car/truck/Dakar racer Bill Conger!

On a side note, the DC bike show is Jan 4-6th. Booked a room at the Embassy Suites, it's very nice. I'd be willing to organize a ADV rendezvous and make restaurant reservations...I can't wait to see and sit on the new Honda CB1100. Besides the fact that it's a super cool, gorgeous Honda, I don't know why I'm so hot for this bike!

Went for a Lasik consult today and unfortunately Dr no can do, so looks like I may need a lens transplant due to a cataract. Walking around today with mono vision contacts to see how I would do sight-wise after such an operation. At this point no way would I hope on a bike. Hoping it gets better as the day wears on. Have to wear them until 2P. Have never worn contacts and have worn glasses for 50 years. Man, first the teeth now the freakin eyes...
