Cold over in WVA these days.

(Spent the weekend at North Fork Inn with the wife, snowboarding over in Canaan. It snowed the entire time, Canaan has about 24" on the ground.)

View into Germany Valley yesterday around 4pm, 20 degrees and snowing.

Road into Canaan

33 headed over the hill

At the top of Timberline, 18 degrees, wind at 15kt g25kt, windchill was something like 0

North Fork Inn, Great place to stay if your not camping. They're just off Smoke Hole rd about a 45 min ride north of Franklin.

I'm just whining again, I guess my estrogen levels are getting high also.
My wife is a personal trainer if anyone is interested in getting beat into shape this year.

Love that Ski Jacket! I always use my MC gear when I go skiing. The extra padding really helps!

After looking at these, I guess I'm going to have to take the road thru Dolly Sods off my plan for this weekend. Might be a tad bit snowy. Can't wait to try to ride to the top of Spruce Knob.

Dan, when I started running from scratch, I downloaded a bunch of free PodRunner MP3s from the First day to 5K in 9 weeks series (there are other interval series on this link as well). The series alternates walking/jogging intervals (set to music such that the bpm are associated with the pace of the interval; audio chimes indicate when it is time to incr/decr the pace), with the jogging sets getting longer and the walking sets getting less frequent over the course of the series. I liked the series because it is super easy to use -- just download and hit play -- and the pacing the first couple weeks gets your joints used to the new demands on them without overdoing it to the point that it hurts.

Hey Sandman! Are you looking for places to go out locally, or are you looking for places to check out outside RIC?

TZ, were I the fine physical specimen you are I would not worry about it either. That Nicole is a lucky girl..

What else you gonna do with 9 hours of daylight most of which in 40's? For free, drop some tonnage from your rig and gain endurance so you can go longer and have more fun when time comes.

Henricus park.. see the loop just above the "James River" in the lower center of the map? that's the 5 mile trail. Weather looks good too. If I werent' on call I'd probably ride instead.

Yea the extra padding does help. I caught an edge on a rock while cruising out of bounds through a bunch of trees. Flipped head over heals and slammed my shoulder into a nice little oak tree. Its still so sore I can hardly type, but thanks to the pads its not broken or dislocated. The board didn't fair as well, it split down the side. Guess its time for a new one.
