Yep, battleship Missouri size... a bit perplexed why KTM didn't fix some of the "opportunities" for an improved design, such as:

*Why is the sidestand still bolted to the engine, such that when a dirt nap on the left side could potentially take out the engine ca$e?

*Why didn't they give more clearance between the front tire and the wheel O.D. to prevent mud packing?

*Why didn't they make changing oil a bit less hassle?

All the above is addressed in the farkle market, but why not now, considering this is a major redo?

Anyways, you just got to love 150 ponies, 92.2 lb.ft peak torque,467 lbs. dry weight, 10,250 rpm red-line,completely new vendor for the fuel injection, electronic traction control, boosted mid range rpm torque, 20% better fuel economy vs. rc8, valve service interval every 18,641 miles, two plugs per head, slipper clutch, added an oil sight glass vs. the old dipstick, new engine cases, three oil pumps, bosch 9me abs, steet & offroad modes, or off , new vdo instrument panel, optional WP electronic damping system, 6.1 gal. tank, tubeless wheels (spoke type).

Well the 990 is a heck of bike already, I love mine, I'm sure that this bike is good. There have been some pretty good deals on older 990 and 950's in bikes. Mike, how about a pic of the big tanks on your 990?

The Classic and Vintage Motorcycle Show is tomorrow in Powhatan if anyone is interested. It got rained out last week but the weather is going to be good on Sunday. There should be some interesting bikes there.

Lightweight mesh body under-armor?

Hey all,
Somewhere in the last 500 pages, someone posted a description and link to a high tech mesh body armor. I can't find it easily. Could someone PM me the link again, or tell me where to find it? I'm thinking that crossing Oklahoma in 100F sunshine would be lots more pleasant with that mesh body armor and a MX jersey than with my heavy BMW jacket. Thanks.

Another thing to look into for a ride across OK in the summer

I was at Riverrock a couple of weeks ago and Columbia was passing out samples of a hig tech cooling fabric that works from our perspiration. As long as you keep hydrated it will keep working. I am planing on giving it a try. The young lady passing them out said Dicks carried it.

It seems like a nice feature to go with a mesh jacket. The sample they passed out and sprayed with water.

I think it was called omni freeze.
