I made it to about 80 miles till the end of 250. I lost about an hour this morning though.
250 all of the way through WV kicks ASS! The first and last parts are sharp twistys (like the Monterey area) and the middle is mellow. Ran into some traffic but it was mostly through an area where the road is a little more torn-up and gravel-strewn so it set a good, safe pace for me. Going back to the stock skins for the pavement was definitely time well spent, but I knew I should have replaced the tubes while doing it.
Yesterday the front was down to 20 psi so I aired it up and let it set for a while. Measured 32 psi at about 6 p.m. but this morning it was down about 6 psi. Hoping it was just something as easy as a valve core, I spritzed it with soapy water but tiny bubbles kept forming around the adjacent spoke-holes.
Thankfully, I had a new tube handy and swapped it out but that ate up about an hour and a half that I could have used on the road.
I caught the scent of BBQ just as I was getting hungry at about 4 and had some great smoky brisket. Took a pic, but you can get food-porn anywhere on the net these days.
Man, time fly's when you have great roads, great weather (70 all the way) and an awesome motorcycle. I should be close to Muskegon tomorrow then I'll catch the ferry to Milwaukee on Wednesday and get to MN that night.

I saw some post up about riding this weekend. I don't think I can do the overnight thing this weekend, but I would love to get out Friday to meet some people in the mountains if anyone is up for a ride.
Blew a radiator on the WR?? Hope not, that thing is pretty much brand new!

Weekend Ride to Stoney Run

Went for a ride this Sunday to Stoney Run! We trailered the bikes out to Coal Rd and went for a ride up Stoney Run trail 162. This was my first real trail riding experience, I had a blast!

My experienced buddy was on his plated TTR250, me on my WR250R. A few pics from the day...

Had a hell of a time getting through this one Didn't drop her though!

Absolutely beautiful day:

A nice reward ending up on the BRP!

Had an awesome time, can't wait to get out some more.

Saturday's ride was great! Met up with Ptown in the morning than ran all over the place. Started out with Shoe Creek than west over 56 to catch the Levels (stoney run) back up to the BRP. Slabbed south down the BRP and dropped off into BV for lunch and fuel. Saw everyone else there at the BBQ trailer before heading east on gravel out of town. Spent some time digging around looking for the "muddy / jump / tunnel" road but never found it, I think they have gated it due to logging operations in the area but not sure. Than my navigation skills went to crap so we ran panther falls rd north to 60, and grabbed the rough road heading north from the rest stop on 60. Looped around to "rolling rock / bear scat / over grown" road and took that all the way to indian creek rd. From there it was back up Alhambra headed south back to camp, figured we should do tower road and Ptown had his flat. From there it was all down hill back to camp and home.

Good times guys and a ton of fun riding, I am ready to get back out there and scout some more good roads.

BTW saw a new gate on shoe creek blocking the fun road to no where just after the 3rd creek crossing on the left if your headed up the mountain. They also graded the main road from crab tree meadows parking lot to 56, it kind of looks like they might pave that section.

Anybody up for a fall RVA small bike campout and ride event in that area. Thinking everyone trailer or ride up to Oronco campground Friday night than ride around Saturday have a big cookout Saturday night and ride again Sunday if we aren't to worn out. What do you guys think is it worthy of a thread?

GoPro video from TAT with Joe

Just fooling around with the 7+ hours of video. Learning editing is a very steep learning curve for me, but I'm slowly getting into it. Here is the trailer.

Andrew,
Teresa and I have been discussing hosting a "family" camping/riding weekend here at the Farm in Pendleton. So many have mentioned they wanted to ride/camp with their kids, but there are so few places to do it.

We've just about got all the hay done, so we have about 40 acres of open fields, and miles of single track in the woods. Plenty of open camping space. Big bonfire ring. Two fishing ponds. The best spring water in the world. And indoor toilets. There is room for RVs or campers. And as anyone who's been here knows, we're perfectly centered between the Jefferson, GW, and Monongahela NF.

If anyone would be interested in doing a kid/family riding and camping weekend here, sound off. Labor Day weekend could be arranged if there is enough support.

jeff

The new gate is disappointing. I never got to camp up on that flat spot up there. A ranger told me ALL of Shoe Creek Rd is private property and that the Forest Service has nothing to do with it. He said a Jeep would eventually flip over, catch fire, burn down the forest and close the area to vehicle use. I will miss the mile long hill climb road. I would love to do a fall ride and it could be big bike friendly too. I like the family get together at Jeff's too, but I think Labor Day Weekend is bad for me.

Me too, labor day is out. In fact I'm pretty much screwed for the rest of Aug except for maybe a day trip..

3rd weekend in Sept making my yearly pilgrimage to Tellico Plains TN for the FJ1200 rally. I usually go for a cabin/bunk so I can travel lighter. Mostly road riding with a dual sport day - typically big bike unfriendly. Anybody who's interested - pm me. I usually go Wed-Sun.

I guess this was the weekend to rail ride, eh? I've been slabbing it all day but northern Ohio and Michigan are flat and straight so you may as well burn it. Took the high speed ferry across lake Michigan anx met a guy from Massachusetts who is going to Sturgis. Wound up camping within earshot of a freeway. At least if it was a KOA there would be showers for my stinky self!
I'd type more but I'm doing this from my phone.
