Had no problem on the logging roads in SC. So some of that fun too.

Edit: and I also finally learned proper technique to pick up a napping bike. Not on my bike of course.

The F700GS is an obvious contender. Seems that everyone who rides stroms loves them too. Ditto from what I've been reading about the Tiger 800 models. We shall see how the cointoss sorts.

How's the running been going BTW? I recently started training for a half marathon: one week down, only thirteen to go!

Looking forward to shopping for the next one. Eddy, I'm sure you'd have a few recommendations. I believe Chuck's money is on another GS.

@Guy, re: your thoughts about the moose decal on the tank... .
It just reminded me of one of those stickers that pilots put on their planes to indicate a kill.

I do know there is one in stock and sitting on the floor at Morton's. Not coincidentally, I am going to be working at Morton's this weekend so if you come up, say "hi."

(Disclaimer: I am not a Morton's employee. I married into the family and help out when they are short staffed.)

I sat on an f700gs in NC just the other day with the "comfort seat".. Liked it, good leg room..

Yeah I'm still trotting around the neighborhood a couple/three times a week.

Holler if you want to meet up down at Henricus or somewhere one morning, I may have 5 miles in me.. no half marathon thats for sure.

Free camping destination

Anyone who is riding west this weekend (to escape the rain), our place is available for free camping overnight. Sat or Sun nights. I don't have a bike to ride with you, but we are here and the place is a little paradise. Inside toilets, fire pit and wood, perfect location. Just let us know if you need a place to crash. We might even have a bed inside if you say the magic word. (Sam)

Cheers,
jeff

Question for the 500. Do you do the 300 miles on Saturday and just hang out and pack up Sunday, or is half of the ride on Sunday?

You ride about 300 km on Saturday and 200 km on Sunday (Sunday is a bit shorter day so you can pack up and leave but is still a riding day).

Holy... That's a lot of dough. And I thought a $700 Safari tank for the Tiger was pricey.

Just registered! I guess there's no going back now! Hopefully everything will go over well. I still am lacking some of the gear and parts I would like to own for this.

A $2,000 tank from Touratech looks reasonable for the regular F800GS.
