Good heavens Mike! This is awful, I can't believe it! A Strom! What were you thinking? Ok ok, just joking (I like Stroms, really y'all). Look, everyone's got to be careful, if I keep adding people to the prayer chain I'm going to have to keep a note book for awhile. Glad you got home man. Wow, rode that far with injuries. Sorry about the spill, hurts and bif on the bike. Get well.

Wow thanks for all the well wishes. I can't express enough how much it means to read all these positive posts from all my friends here. I am currently back in NOVA and will be allowing my folks to nurse me back to health. I am doing much better than yesterday and am dealing with the broken ribs (6 and 7) and keeping a positive attitude. Expect a face plant sometime soon with many pics as usual

A special thanks to Aerostich and Arai without either I would be street pizza

What no video of the accident? You're slipping.

Ok, ride while injured short story in tribute to your act of um, er courage.
Left Richmond in the driving rain heading to the Smokies on my XL 1200. Rained hard the whole time. Rode 250 miles and just outside of Damascus, heading for Backbone Rock I fell down in the rain. Landed on top of the bike and slid down the road dragging the toes of my boots behind me. I stood up and dry pavement was 10 yards in front of me, the first I saw. Busted mirrors, bent bars, scrapped bits and parts and a sore arm. The next morning the elbow and arm was black, swollen, and it was the clutch hand.

Hit a Harley shop and replaced parts, tweeked the bars and met friends for 10 days of riding. Arm was killing me but I was on vacation! Used the clutch by hooking my fingers on the lever and pulling back with my whole trunk/shoulders. I kept thinking it would get better but a Harley will cruse all day in 4th so I rode through the week and went home. My wife made it a condition of my marriage to see the doctor a day or so after I was back. Had a cracked bone but it was too late to do anything about it.
I had not told her that I had a wreck, she still doesn't trust me. Apparently I have shaded the truth about other wrecks years ago. I think we get poetic licence with our women about wrecks and still can keep our intergrity. She begs to differ for some reason. Women!

She uses that story every once in a great while to illustrate variously that men are nuts in general, I'm an nut in particular, and that I'm not to be trusted as sensible.
I'm not going to tell her your story, it'll just make us look bad again.

stroms get sleepy, be careful

You have to be careful on those stroms. They get sleepy.

I think "Sleepy" should be the nickname of your new ride HBN.

Also remember people lungs are like motorcycle tires, just because you have 2 doesn't mean you have a spare.

Side note:

I happen to be watching Southpark and they are really ragging on harleys with loud pipes.

Dang Mike, glad you're ok!! Have been busy the last couple of days and didn't see the news until just now. ATGATT saved your bacon for sure..

Since you're such a pizza fan and going to be in Alexandria, make sure and get the parents to stop by Armond's pizza in Old Town for some healing chow..

Wicked southpark, and the F word

O.M.G.
I don't know how many of you follow SouthPark, but I have to say you have to see the one that aired tonight ....'the F' word"
and I'm not talking foul here, it is simply the best one I've seen in years, tune into the Comedy Network tonight at midnight, or tomorrow at 12 a.m, or 10:30 p.m.
you will not regret it I assure you....
to give you a snip, the "new definition" of "Fag" has to do with loud bikes that save lives.....

oh, man, this was the best!!!!!!

Thumb Speedy recovery my friend

Mike, glad to see you're back "home" and wish you a speedy recovery. Getting injured is no fun, but having that happen many miles away from home base is even worse. Been there.

All the best and hope to see you out there again soon.

Oh yeah - we'll keep the humor to a minimum to keep you jostling your ribs. Been there too.

Hitting TSO this evening

Saw them several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Daughter arranged for tickets so a herd of us will be headed to the coleseum tonight.

Mike, only time works on busted ribs but as long as your home try to get your mom to make chicken soup and perhaps a chocolate cake. Then invite us all up to help!

I'll tell you about how I got tangled up with a Mustang (horse) one day.....
