Doesn’t matter...they don't care. Half on them don't ride BMWs anymore. I rode my Honda Silverwing to it for 18 years .

Sherando Lake Rally

I have the time off to go to Sherando Lake. I remember passing the exit over to the lake on Saturday while driving on the Parkway. From the information it looks like a great place. Is there a group going and/or riding up there together? Anyone taking their significant other/wife? I have to be careful these days asking that. :-) My wife may be interested in going. She is a trooper when it comes to camping. Anyone a member of the Richmond BMW club? I went to one of the meetings last year but never went back.

Enough questions. Sorry

I'm a member of the RBMWR and also the Newsletter editor. My wife is a teacher and can't leave Friday, so she will be driving her car Friday afternoon and meeting me at Sherando.

They've got a nice spring up there, just across the road from the pump. I just take a filter with me and filter out a gallon of water from the spring. Much better than the brown stuff you get from the pump.

I just got back from a week in Myrtle Beach. No riding bikes, just a Honda Minivan that was loaded with toys, boogie boards, Pixar DVD's and luggage. We had a great time. Oddly enough, it seems that there are only TWO types of bikes on the Grand Strand, Harley Davidsons and chrome rimmed Hayabusa's with 300mm rear tires and four foot long swingarms! I only saw one rider wearing a helmet all week. Seeing beautiful 20 year old girls on the back of a sportbikes going 80 MPH wearing nothing but a bikini top, jean shorts, flip flops and sunglasses made me very nervous!

FYI...
If you need motor oil, polish, degreasers, cleaners etc... Catlin Custom Cycles, the Victory dealer on route 10, is going out of business and has everything at least 50% off. I think I have enough chemicals to last me 5 years now! They also have their helmets and jackets 50% (or more) off. If you fancy a Victory bike, they have them at firesale prices! I saw one that had been discounted $3000!

Just signed up for the Twin Valley Rally, Sept 17-19th, it's for both DS and street riders, down in the Meadows of Dan, Va. Tommy from Va Beach gave me the heads up so I figured Id pass it along here. Just look for the Twin Valley Rally thread. Hope to see some of YFF's there.

Mike, you will like Willville. Will, the owner, is a first class act and does all he can to make everyone feel welcome. COG has had several events centered out of there, and I've been there a number of times just because I happened to be passing through the area.

Last time there was a couple of years ago when returning from the COG National at Fontana Dam, NC. I had our OTP Traveller (from Germany) in tow as we were heading for home.

Looking down through the campground:

A couple of guyz that were camped right behind us. Wolfram Tege, the OTP Traveller in in the middle:

Home Sweet Home for the night:
