Tried to lean the bike over to spin the wheel for a lube but the kickstand snapped. We welded it twice and it broke again twice.

Dang, I didn't know you were over here. How long you gonna be in town? If there's anything I can do for you, feel free to ring me at 080-5040-3020. I've got 3 days off to ride next week from Friday through Sunday if you're still around.....

Jim

I think I'm turning Japanese.

Hey yo. Lemme ask you a question. You are one week into this thing, you're experiencing Japan, and the world lays before you. Have you ever stopped and said, whoa, its going to fast. I like this, but I know I have to move on, but theres to much I'll miss here. I was just wondering how it feels so early in the journey.

Visited Japan in '02, loved it. Love Ropongi (sp?). Good times. Must get soapy massage with happy ending!!!! Good luck.

Although it's only been a week, you know how time distorts when traveling. I don't even count Japan as the beginning because I was always fixated on Siberia ever since being released from the Colombian rebels. Japan like every country I've visited so far, needs a year to really absorb what it has to offer.

You mentioned fear earlier. Indeed I know fear better than most. Everytime I hear about another hostage taken in the Middle East I cringe. I know exactly the hell they are going through not knowing if they will die the next second. One comandante blew a guys head off so close to me that his grey brain matter splattered on my face. His comment to me was, you get yours in the morning. It made for some long nights in the jungle for five thrilling weeks. I will never be the same, some good, some bad but that's the way it fucking goes.

What terrorists want to do is terrorize us. Yes I'm certainly scared of what lies ahead but I won't be terrorized. If we let them affect our plans or our lives, they win. They want us to fear travel so much we stay home. Fuck them in their goat smelling asses. The two things I have always feared most were torture and and paralysis. I have now experienced both so what's next? I firmly believe that death is an overrated experience and all those close to me know exactly what to expect.

Before some chicken shit sissy thug with a sheet over his head gets his hands on me, I am more worried about the traffic. I guess you all heard about Helge's mishap in Russia and Pete's broken rib last week. Most of the countries outside of the West are giant games of chicken and a motorcycle always loses. Everyday is at least one near-death experience. And when traveling alone, this is scary. Knowing what I know of what potentially lies ahead, you can bet I am more scared than you.
