SV - If you crate the bike, what is the info? Ship to? Weight? Crate size? With that info I can call some of our freight companies and see if I can help.

Or send me a PM with your telephone info and I'll call you.

Re getting your bike to Vladivostok -

did you see the web site put up by a group of guys that went across the US up to Alaska, then over to northeast Russia and across to Europe? They air shipped their bikes from Anchorage to Magadan in Russia (north of Vladivostok) for $700 per bike (BMW F650s). They have some info about it on their web site: http://www.blue-dunes.com/. Click on the Anchorage log and they talk about it. This obviously isn't the same as flying your bike from LA to Vladivostok, but if your plans are still flexible it might be another way to accomplish the same thing.

Good luck on your journey.

I estimate the weight at 500lbs and the dimensions are 40x45x90. This is a standard BMW wooden shipping crate. They also have a steel framed crate for 1200LT but it is heavy and exposed. Time constrainsts prohibit departing from Alaska--still waiting on my permanant California title DMV claimed they would expedite and proces in three days. That was a few weeks ago...

CA DMV expediting something!

That's a good one!

I've got some calls out there... I'll let you know. Were you also interested (as an alternate) in shipping to Seattle?

Are you planning on doing an ongoing ride report during you're travels? If you do, I'll be looking forward to it!

I'm not sure yet how the ride report will go. I intend to write another book when I return and if I give up the story along the way, publishers ask the obvious question: Why would anyone buy a book that is for the most part already on the internet for free.

In reviewing my own stats page it appears that people view the photos far more than the journals anyway. I have not posted anything new on my website for several months yet still there are 5,000 to 10,000 page views a day. I realize this could be Fluggy re-examining the Girls of South America in hopes of more shots of the brunette but still that is a lot.

I was thinking more of a photo essay with captions instead of journals. When I get back, you guys can cough up the dough for a nicely edited tale of a wandering swash-buckling motorcycle bum complete with color photos of scantily clad women.

I even considered a book of females only. The One Hundred Most Beautiful Women of the World. Five of the most gorgeous babes from twenty countries. I have not made up my mind yet if they should be clothed or otherwise but suspect Fluggy will want to weigh in on that one.

Mike O's Coming To America

and Rouge1's Took A Little Ride

are to of the best threads around and have a similar format, albeit without the horny's
