We'll be camped at Needles Creek Resv. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and we'll continue to clear trails. Quaky, Canyon Creek Upper, Horseshoe and Maybe lower Fossil if we get time on the McIntyre side.

Dozer, I think you meant to put this in Ramz's thread?

Haha.... That's how I saw it too. I just moved to the area and want the maps! Gotta love the 4 year bump!

This really is a great riding area. Maybe not as epic as some other UT and CO locations, but lots of good stuff. As to maps, I found that you could do most of any serious navigation in the area with just the Gazetteer maps in the CO book. I even found some fun singletrack that was shown on the Gazetteer. Also, the adventure shop at the resort at Gateway has done some mapping of its own that I was fairly impressed with, but I forgot the pricing. The area is an amazing mix of heavy forest on the Uncompahgre plateau and into the Manti-La Sal national forest or more "deserty" terrain just about everywhere else. Old uranium mines and natural beauty is everywhere, along with the Dolores river running through a big chunk of it.

early arrivers 5/18/2013

Hey y'll,
We're coming over this Sat 5/182013 to ride in the Gateway area (heard a bunch about the snow shoe enduro), hoping for some single track. Folks over on the east side thought a lot of the upper stuff was closed either because of snow or the forest service. Anyone have any beta? Is there plenty of lower trails open anyhow? This'll be the first time through for us, so there'll be a lot of discovery going on. If most of it is closed, we'll ride what is available and learn what we can.

We're also hoping to camp out. Any info or what/where not to go?

Thanks!

I found new links on BC Rats and West ATVs which have a lot of maps. Looks like MC only stuff is pretty sparse. Thanks Rattlers and WATV clubs!

Well, no offense meant, I don't know your exact affiliation Butler or how/if you're going to use the links. It's easy enough to search what I've given, that's all I had. I'll post them and if you're collecting info for Butler to profit, you definitely need to make a good contribution to those clubs. Heck, it would pay to do it anyhow. Both clubs look like they work TAO to help keep access going! I think we all realize if we don't work hard and be good citizens, we're doomed to do any single track in the back country or even worse. I have 13 of the lovely butler maps sitting right beside me.

Here yah go!
