I have two of those, that huge one and the smaller one. I bought them when I was in my Tanto stage, and that was about six or seven years ago. I haven't bought another Tanto since but do love the M16s for SD carry. However, they aren't the best for DC because of the blade shape. I will say that for SD the Tanto is what I would like to have in my hand. Both mine will shave you closer than a Bic Razor.

How often do you cut yourself?
Other than Capt. Obvious, how often do you regular knife guys cut yourself? I am either lucky or good because even though my knife is out at least ten times a day or more, I only cut myself about once a year. And never very bad since my knives are razor sharp.....which is a lot safer than if they were fairly sharp.

I'm a machinist, I cut myself all the time, but not so much with a knife. Don't tell EG because I like to give him shit about cutting himself.

Cabinetmaker/carpenter here, I bleed virtually every day it seems, often I don't even know how it happens, rarely with a knife, however..............
Christmas morning 2005, I walked up from the basement with a Wusthof 8" chefs knife I had just sharpened in preparation for some onion choppage. I had done a crackerjack job on the blade with a paper wheel and was rightly proud of myself. I can be a bit inconsistent in my sharpening but this time I was on my game. The knife was scary, stupid, surgically sharp. Using my best John Wayne voice I was warning the "little lady" to be careful with it when I laid my finger open. It hurt so I went to shaking my hand and was slinging blood everywhere, wife was screaming, I was cussin' just a big ole mess. I went to the ER for a record 5 times for the year. Dirt bike crashes, bee stings and finally a dang kitchen knife. It was a tough year.

Yeah. Good question.
I cook a lot, and probably about 3~5 times a year, I'll nick a fingernail or shave the prints off a finger, but I can't remember the last time I drew blood with my own knives. Now, working in the shop, that's a different story. About 6 months ago, I had a cutoff wheel in my 4" hand grinder explode and took a real good chunk outta me. Last month, I was working on a chopper for the DirtBag Challenge (google it, great event), and I was going to name it "Damnit, I'm bleeding again!". LOL...

Fruits of tonight's labor:
![]() Desert ironwood burl, G-10, and Macadamia wood (with lightly blued blade). There's a 4th with pink G-10, but it had an issue I ran out of steam on tonight.

I'm just all giddy about my new chopper. I can hardly wait to go out and play with it this weekend.
