Broken down in Altamira, Mexico
Today my rear wheel bearing failed. It was like driving on a flat tire with lots of bad grinding sounds. All the bearings on the right side were gone. The 990 Adventure bike only has 800 miles on it. I was 40 miles from town and drive in very, very slow. I hope I'm not stuck for Christmas.

The bearings are three at the back. Good luck.

Gefr gave ya a good thread. Often enough removing the part & shaft(carefull with any seals) may give you some sharades advantage with the locals. They are more likely to match it than find a KTM specific part. Good Luck, God Bless & Merry Christmas!

If under warranty, find a local KTM dealer.
You should try contacting a dealer. Only Aurel is getting close to your record bearing wear pace. I would assume lack of grease, submerging rear axle in seawater, mud and dust creeping in your bearings. You should be enjoying pounding your bike like that. Hope a dealer puts you back on the road in no time. Cheers, good luck and Merry Christmas.

I assuming you trucked the bike down to the border?
First off, just relax. It's Mexico at Xmas. All part of the adventure. Store the bike somewhere safe, hop a bus but to Brownsville. Better yet shouldn't be too hard to get a truck to the border. Ask around. Mexicans are good at cross ref parts and you may be able to get bearings in Tampico. Buen viaje, take pix |

I'm back on track. The Chevy dealer was great. On the road 4 hours today all is good. Now in a town called Papantle. No Internet on computer but iPhone is working. Can't wait to see this bill. I'm looking to ride with someone to Costa Rica.

It's nice to know you're still alive. Your dad wasn't sure where you were on Christmas eve. Keep updating your progress on this thread. Take some pics too.
