Where can I find..

Those rubber boots that go between the airbox and the intake tubes for the carbs? They are worn on my 74' r75/6 and I need to order a set.

Thanks in advance! :)

So? order hem online. I hear MAX BMW is having a sale.

I should run around and do your shopping because you're lazy? How's that work again?

I might have some in the parts box that will fit, have to look.

Capital Cycle has them too:

About the same price as Max. Maybe the M & M's will make the deal for you.

I didn't ask you to do my shopping - just asking for a tip on where to get them. Sorry if that offended you *shrugs*

Anyway, just ordered from Bob's BMW, so all good. Thanks for the tips folks :)

P.S. Plaka - can you come down and put them on for me? I'm too lazy to do it :(

I am sure that Plaka would do it if offered the correct incentive.

it was the claim to laziness that offended. I know you were joking, but you also weren't.

Now back in the day, before the internet and all these places selling online, Capitol cycle with their paper catalog and your local dealer was all you had. Used to put in huge Capitol orders. But now you young-uns can Google up a half dozen suppliers and shop for your parts in minutes. You could do it in less time that you took to post up here. Now had you actually done that and posted who you were considering and asked about peoples experiences doing business with them, that would be very different. It's more occult information.

If you want to bring the bike and a 6 of PBR by the shop I'll learn ya the fine points of installing them correctly and we can both drink the beer. Supposed to be nice tomorrow.

Now that's a great offer. If I was in the need and in Colorado, I would take that up. Sounds like a great way to get to know a fellow airhead nutcase and learn a little about the bike.

Plaka, no offense meant calling you an airhead nutcase. We are all certifiable.

Actually I was joking. While I'm quite competent at using the Internet for shopping etc, I don't have the lowdown on reputable sources for airhead parts. I prefer to give my bucks to people with a good rep. Maybe I should have clarified that - so my bad.

Luckily, I can put them on myself . But if we ever meet I'll buy you TWO PBR's

P.S. - Apparently there is a problem with this part. Bob's just called and said the part # is removed from the catalog as the wrong part was being shipped. Once BMW has is fixed, they will start shipping again. Guess I'm gonna have to use some radiator hose till they come in.

Just wanted to fix that up as I'm selling my airhead hack.

Good Bobs caught the error. They just sent me some bearing shells that weren't even close. probably mis-binned and the numbers weren't right either. They sent me new ones the same day but it still took 10 days to get them, delaying the project. Their standard shipping is cheap but slow. I'm sending the incorrect ones back completely at my convenience.

When buying a 'new' bike I look for things like kludges and boges (radiator hose) and at the condition of bolt and screw heads (esp. on the carbs). The first tells me if the PO is playing it cheap (What did they cheep on that I can't see and may matter?) and the second their skill with the wrenches. If you beat up bolts and screws you beat up other things.

I'd put the hose in so you can run it, put a wrap of masking tape around them and explain to the legions of lookie-loos that you just put them on to run it and the proper parts are on order and you have a nearby specialist lined up to install them.
