Hi Nate. Buy something you don't mind crashing off-road. No crashing allowed on the street, but you will fall over/backwards/forwards/multi-directional quite a bit on dirt. So, you will also need to be able to pick the bike up.......

Had it puked on the haul road, I could have been looking at at $1,000 tow just to get it to Fairbanks where there wasn't even a full service dealer. Then a car rental, being forced to stay in a hotel for a maybe a week, having my trip ruined etc.

The price of the repair itself isn't a problem.

It was repaired by a BMW shop and I sold the bike almost right away. New owner let me know that it failed again on him just a few months later.

Worst thing is there isn't much warning. You can see a chain starting to wear.

With the FD you can go from everything is fine to you're screwed in just a few minutes.
The FD pinion seal on my GS started leaking two months out of warranty. I took it to Adventure to get it changed, they replaced the seal and said the big bearing needed replaced. The good news is that they honored the warranty. I am planning on doing the Trans Labrador Hwy. this summer, but I've got to say, my confidence in my bike, the FD in particular, isn't real high. I hate to say that about my beloved GS, but it doesn't seem like the history of FD rebuilds is real good. I'll see this summer.

I recommend you go see Anton in Charlottesville. He'll square away that FD.

That is an awesome trip. We got a glimpse of the Northern lights and heard wolves. Very remote. Might not be a bad idea to have a spare drive at home boxed up and ready to ship, just as a good luck charm.

Might consider buying a used FD, sending it to Anton for a rebuild then swapping it for the one on your bike. Use your current one as a spare.

There is no BMW dealership in Goose Bay.

Any of you fellers into road cycling?

I'm about to build up a cyclocross bike for something to mess around on a bit.

Have been looking for another road bike as well.

Cry

Yeah seasons over lol, it's a SS Cx bike, really more just to follow my daughter around on for our trips to the park. Would love to find some good trails for it though.

Great looking Trek, do you do group rides with any of the shops? Should've never sold my Allez last year.

So will someone please buy my tire? Bridgestone TW101 100/90-19. Brand new. Ordered by mistake. $60 takes it. In fact, I'll even deliver the damn thing to wherever you live, as long as it's not up in Richmond, or somewhere crazy. Somewhere in the 7 cities area. Even southside. My roomate's starting to give me shit about having it in the garage, and it's doing nothing but taking up space.

I live way up in Gloucester so no group rides. Not enough time and sleep too late on the weekends. I was in EVMA years ago. Try Freedom Park. They have a bunny trail. Also Nike Park if it still there.
