hydration pack

So a while ago, I asked the group for suggestions on alternatives to camelbaks. Someone kindly pointed me to Target and this:

A couple of weeks ago, I went to target and pick one up. Great deal for something around $35. I wanted to give a bit of a review. I went to use it for the first time this weekend. It leaked from jump street. It leaked from the fill cap. So, if the bladder was full, or upside down, it leaked. Not a minor leak either. Well, the tags were ripped off, and it was already full of water, so I decided I couldn't do any more damage, so I used it, with the intention of trying to return it today. I will say, it is very comfortable to wear. The three pockets are very useful. I'll be able to pack everything I need in it. In classic Murphy's Law fashion, the one time I didn't snap the waist band, it got caught on the muffler, and the buckle melted.

So, I figured since it was busted from the get go (melted plastic bits not withstanding), I would at least try to return it and plead my case. Well, I'm happy to report target took it back and swapped it for a new one. They said the damage to the buckle was no problem at at, since the inside leaked anyway. I'll try out the bladder tonight for leaks.

Any one know when this will be held this year?
Also, any one planning on taking a GS or similar beast?

Thanks

All right Hamptonroadiens. Getting tools ready for big move and notice an oil spot under the Buells left fork leg.........yep, bad fork seal.......yep, 6 days before the big move.

Any of you have a line on a shop that does good suspension work? Do not see having the time the fix for at least a month. Would rather pull them both, drop em off, pick em up, and install them.

Cheers Ken

Can't specifically recommend a shop for your Buell, but have you tried this?

Worth a shot unless you want to go ahead and change your fork oil anyway.

Sweet! Going to have to give that a try. Hope the seal holds some oil in since she will be strapped down in the trailer for the 1000 mile journey.

Cheers Ken

Exact dates wont be out for a while but definitely the first or second weekend in Oct. We will have a huge group going and youll be able to keep up with us on the GS because my dad is pretty slow and likes to take his time.

Definitely keep an eye out for when the registration opens up, it sells out very quickly. I think last year sold out in 10 hours or something. It's a very popular event, and yes, totally doable on a GS.

Great news for me. My wife's dipshit sister shit just had a baby. So not only am I an uncle again, but the good news is that the wife is headed out of town Friday night and will be gone for the weekend. That means I'm free to ride. Anybody headed out west Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

I'm working on lodging for Rally WV. If anyone is interested in going in on a room/suite/condo depending on interest, let me know. I'll probably make reservations next Friday.

Redline could fix that fork seal in an afternoon, if they have the seals. If not, 2-3 days.

New seals run you $20. $68 for labor.

Available to locals first.
I bought a pair of XXL Tourmaster Venture Air Pants in the grey/silver and black and used them only once. No bugs, stains, rips, tears etc etc.
I paid $175 for them but I should have gotten XLs. Tourmaster's sizing chart doesn't cover the extent of the waist sizes the pants actually will cover. I would say these would go out to 42" and cinch down less than 38". They are a bit long for me. They come with the thermal liner as well as the lined waterproof liner. The liners can both be used at the same time for a decent winter setup of they can be used individually, or not at all. The tags, replacement snaps and sew-on zipper half (to add to a jacket) is included. The pants flow a ton of air. The knee armor is adjustable as is the waist. I love them and will get them again....in the XL.
$125 Yes, of course you can try them on if you want.

Iron Butt ride

I'm going to do either a Saddle Sore (1,000 miles in 24 hr) or BunBurner (1,500 miles in 36 hours) hopefully the week of 6/24, specific date tbd.
I know we all ride at different paces, so not technically a group ride.
Actually, doing this as a group ride would slow everyone down except the slowest rider.
But, if someone else wants to ride same route same time, there would be a little support if one needed it.
Leave VB at 0300-ish, most likely finish by 2100...only first 3 hours would be in the dark.
Tentative route...hit Charleston, WV and head north, out of the sun. Detroit is about 750 miles. Turn around either at 500 mile mark and head to the house, or go 750, turn around, do another 250 for 1,000 that day. Hotel for a few hours, then back to beach for 36hr 1,500 mile trip.
Any interest?

See here for rules. http://www.ironbutt.com/about/defaul...TOKEN=89614602

They usually they want you to ride to a destination, or ride a loop not just out half way and back. AB
