I'm working more and getting paid less... Overall I can't complain though.

Shanon, congrats on 40k. That's a lot of miles on a DR. When it gets to 50k, I say you treat it to the 785cc big bore kit.

Glad your back is feeling better too. I dusted my DR off on Sat. and had a nice ride. I am really going to try to get the front end dialed in. I have heavier springs and gold valves but it is just horrible. Really stands out since I put the cogent rear shock on.

Anyone's wife/daughter/sister/mother/great-grandmother/etc outgrow or upgrade their jacket and want to sell their old one?

Looking for a hi-viz jacket for my wife, she's either a women's S or M to give an idea of size.

Thanks Marc and Brian,
I'm hoping by the time I get to 45K, I'll have a stable mate for it.

Hey everyone,

Most of you know that I took a position at Cycle World and Ive been trying to make it a better place for everyone in each moto genre.

My question for you guys is: would you buy KLIM type adventure gear from a local brick and mortar store if items were stocked at fair pricing?

Please let me know and I might be able to convince the parts manager that there is a market for it in Hampton Roads.

Define "fair pricing".....

I don't know, I don't think I'm in the minority here when I say that a bunch, if not the majority of dealers here in the area...well, they suck. My personal belief is that they thrive on predatory pricing because of the large military population. CW and Redline are the ones I hear mentioned most often. Many moons ago, when the SV first came out, I called CW about getting one. A couple of calls later, I found myself in the dealership, where it was explained to me that they don't deal on price, because (I'll quote for effect) "we don't have to, if you don't pay our asking price, then someone else will". needless to say, I've never darkened their door since. But I hear of similar treatment from riders from time to time even now.

An acquaintance/customer of mine just had almost the exact same conversation when he went to Redline to buy an Aprilla very receently.

I think peoples opinions of Adventure BMW are pretty well documented here on the board. All you have to do is go to Morton's on just about any given day and you'll see many people from this area traveling up there for stuff.

I've got a bike buying problem (its gotten better with marriage and a kid, now I have a diaper buying problem ), but I've bought a bunch of bikes over the years. I've never bought one from a local dealer. I've always traveled. Mind you, I DO NOT buy anything, bike or accessories, on price alone. My purchasing decisions are almost always based on the total customer experience. Customer service, price, service after sale, etc. I have, and will travel longer, to pay more if the total experience is better. So don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the only reason I don't use the local dealer is only because of price. I've just never had much of a warm fuzzy with anyone around here. Parts and accessories departments, sales, service; I've just always had the feeling I was just another checkbook to be gotten in and out of the door around here. I also know that I'm not the only one around here that feels this way. I've heard it from too many people. Hopefully you can make a difference, good luck!

I might be an exception to the rule (or just damn broke) but I'd be more interested in seeing more gear along the lines of Olympia. KLIM is just way out of my league.

This is exactly the way I feel with the exception of Redline. Redline tried hard for my business. I've taken my bikes to Dave for years. He's always, always been 1st class in dealing with any issues that have arisen (and they will arise IMHO, it's how they get dealt with). He offered me a fair deal on the Multi that I was considering, and likely would have offered a better deal if I was sitting down with my checkbook. If memory serves, he even offered to let me take his personal bike home. But ultimately, I'm not a Duc person. I wanted the perception of reliability. I went to Casey to try to seriously buy my S10. Not a bit of courtesy, not a bit of interest in any negotiation. Thus I bought it at Honda House in Richmond. Couldn't have been happier with the experience. They were super friendly from the outset. One small delivery issue that was handled appropriately. I understood that I could test ride the bike if I was serious about buying, but didn't bother. I'd buy again from them. Should I ever have enough money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Tuono from Redline either. Also, regarding pricing on helmets and the like...most places will match prices. I know Redline has been fair with me when I bought helmets and tires in the past.

I understand the dealer frustration. I too had a negative opinion of CW and Im trying to change what I can. By fair pricing Id say close enough to internet prices that you'd be fine being able to try the gear on and purchase at the same time.
