It was smoking pretty good at the start, then ran low on oil and siezed. After an epic campground tear down until about 12AM, it bump started the next morning after being dragged about half a mile . After that it ran like a champ even though it was smoking like mad.

If it were my property, I would do something with it. The government does absolutely nothing with that land, and it has been used for years by locals to walk, bike, and ride with no ill effect (at least none that I know of). That land was useful to folks before the signs went up. Now it will be rendered useless. Just one more mindless decision by bureaucrats. That's my perception. You may feel differently, and I am okay with that.

Cheers,
Lance

Honestly, I'm surprised nothing has happened yet. But with everything I see posted, I figured it was only a matter of time before they shut it down.

That land isn't owned by the city, state, or Feds. It's privately owned. It's owned by a development company.

I used to patrol there. Part of it is Oceana property, but most is owned by the development company. They used to call every couple of months and complain about trespassing and we'd have to step-up patrol there. In this day and age of people suing everyone, they have to do that to try and protect their bottom line....

All of the no trespassing signs say that it is US Government property.

If you bought the property, and those signs were already there, would you take them down?

A 3 minute search of VAB's online property tax records will tell you it's all privately owned now.

Not that it matters who owns it, trespassing is trespassing.

No, and I'd put more up. As a rural land owner, I quickly learned you need to post your property to protect yourself. And your property - otherwise folks will take advantage and hunt/fish/collect mushrooms/etc.

REminds me, I need to get new signs up on one boundary.

WOrd of caution...

It could be a lot more than that - the landowner can sue you for whatever he wants to - property damage, mental anguish, etc. YOu could quickly end up having to hire a lawer, etc.

Having been sued once, and one part of the three part list was tens of thousands of dollars for 'damages' and 'anguish', I learned from my lawyer that literally anyone can sue anyone for anything. All goes to court and you'd better have a lawyer (you need a lawyer so you don't screw up the legal process/proceedings).

Trespass at your own risk.

Bingo.

As a property owner, the best thing you can do to protect yourself is to post your land. Provide your contact information. You're not outright banning people from your land, simply asking that they contact you and ask permission first.

If those signs are up, nobody, NOBODY has permission to trespass. Assumed or otherwise. Whether you think you know what's best for the property, or not.

Three of us rode the O spot nearly every sunday this past winter. It was the best area because the sand (less mud). Some days as many as 12 riders showed up. Guys on race bikes. There was talk of the jeeps etc. ruining the trails by making holes ,ruts . Around february someone started cutting down large trees and using logs to improve a jump. Soon after more large trees were downed in what looked like an attempt to block off 4 wheel access to the northern bowl area. This was bad and we knew it. We never saw anyone doing the cutting.
Toward the East side signs exist saying City Property. Flint Marine did some work on the lake with the zipline( that was fun!) and the lake is to be filled.
This area has a long history of use. I was told there was a BMX track at one time. well that's all for now.. 5 ways in,10 ways out

Hey Xylo,

I figured out why my katoom was blowing oil. No leak

The breather tube was cut short and ended up by the frame backbone near the shock. This combined with the fact that I had a bit too much oil in there, meant I was blowing oil. I'll just order a new tube, and fill the oil to the proper level, and no problems.
