If you still get the paper, the Virginia Beach Beacon has a great short article imploring everyone to look out for motorcycles on the road.

It's on the inside of the front cover, Rip Currents by Kathy Adams. If anyone can find an online link, let me know.

Ah, found it...

Just got back. A few of you will recognize the first place. The second is nearby, but will remain a secret. My God it's nice out there!

We caught some trout, but I thought this little guy was worth a pic all his own too.

First Post?

I not sure of the forum protocol (was I suposed to start a new thread or reply on this one) but anyway this is my first post.

I live in the hampton roads area Portsmouth to be exact...Ive riding for years but am just getting into some dual sport type riding. A couple of years ago I bought a DR200 and just picked up a DR650.

I dont really know anyone that rides dual sports so I figured Id join the forum (after reading it for a long time).

I also have a Harley (but I don't dress up like a village person to ride it) and ride it a lot in the area.

Hey

Welcome, Tru! You should look into riding the Shenandoah 500 in early October. A bunch of folks from here go every year. It's a good way to meet other riders, and the difficulty level is way low, so no worries about ability.

I hit Damneck today. Very dry and in good condition. Happened upon a VERY nice looking woman mountain biking through there. I pulled to the side of the trail to allow her to pedal by and a she flashed me a stunning smile. What was that old ad line? "You meet the nicest people on a motorcycle." Something like that. Damneck is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get.

Typical trout guy....

not sharing information I'm heading to the mts this coming weekend to chase some trout. Probably have to cut some grass, but we'll see....

I might look into that ride.

I have a cabin in Franklin WV (4wd access only) , my father in law lives in Staunton and has a cabin near Reddish Knob so I ride near that area a few times a month. That's the reason i'm stepping up from the 200 to the 650.

I bought the dual sport a few years ago when I got tired of riding the same old trails on my 4wheeler. It would be nice to get up with people who ride that area on the regular.
