0900ish

I'll have the coffee and donuts ready. I Have the forks off of red and drained just waiting for Paul and his handy fork oil level tool then we'll reinstall, I also plan to change front brakes and renew brake fluid. If all goes well, and time permits we'll get to blue, plan to use the broom handle trick to get the forks apart. Anyway 09ish.

it doesn't work...and will get crab in the forks....
grab a long piece of 3/4" all thread, and a couple nuts with a lockwasher and a flatwasher between all tightened together on both ends or tack welded in place to make a tool...

save yourself the aggrivation...it works, and is the only way to tackle that job

(freebie from the old tech dude....)

MOB up late

MOB you should be in bed, thanks for the info, what size threaded rod? I've seen this mentioned, that was my concern as well putting a stick down there and getting possible splinters. Roger and Pual will be coming over so I won't be on my own, that's a really good thing.

I'm there strictly for the entertainment value. You guys concocted this on your own

What's the broom handle "trick", do you beat the forks apart with a broom handle???????????

I told you the wrong size sorry...

I 'splained the size and such in the original post...I think I was wrong...
so0rry
5/8" diameter all thread (5/8-11 UNC or 5/8-16 UNF...doesn't matter, but coarse threads are cheaper.. and more common) 3 feet long.
Thread on a nut, add a washer and a lock washer, then another nut, lock them together tightly about a 1/2" from the end of the rod, then do the same on the other end, to make a tool. the retainer in the fork has a 12 pounted recess in it 24mm (.944") I think...but the nut is 15/16" (.937") across the flats and fits perfectly.

the Broomstick thing was derived by some crude method, where a tapered broom stick was pounded into the retainer recess, and clamped in a vise to hold the internals to remove the bottom bolt...crude....use the home made tool...please.
more info here, from fellow COG'r Dave Morrow's site....

Here's the gnarly mechanics hard at work, no shots of me sitting on my ass.

Not sure why the screwdriver seems to be confusing Paul?

Tom's practicing to be a runway model, notice he's showing some skin there, work it boy!!!!!:

Rode the four wheelers today:

Hope we bled the brakes properly!!!!
