Good luck with the sidecar rig. My wife wants a hack, but I think she'll need something a bit more high-tech.

Cool. It's not fast but looks like fun. I saw a guy carrying his his German Shepard in the side car up at Wahls in Orange once.

Cool, my mount kit from Dauntless just came today. Didn't include all the parts I expected and have to make another order, but it will be together soon.

We can take the kids out for some fun

My 2007 Ural is up for sale. On the C-list Richmond. Lots of bells and whistles, so if ya haven't pulled the trigger yet contact me. I added the road sofa by Rich Maund. Still have the agonizingly painful tractor seats

That (first) Ural looks awesome, I'd love to get one. The only concern I'd have is it being an '05. I have read that it's best to get an '06 or later as that is when they upgraded a lot of the components, like Brembo brakes, better electronics, etc...

But, if the price was rght.....I'd say go for it!

Edit:

Ohh, nice deal on the '07 and you'd have the upgraded stuff. Wish I had $7,500 laying around...

Ok, checked out both and I'm interested and the time line fits. I'll run it by the boys that were planning on going and get back. My family came from Canada in the 20's and settled in NH so this would be very interesting.

with the 389 section and the new goose bay extension, about 750 miles of gravel road in that part of the route.

What bike would you run ? I'm not sure if I would take the Elefant or my KTM 640e. I will read up on the area.

We did it on 1150 GSs. No problem. I would run a tkc 80 up front at least if I did it again. Jeff Munn wrote a real nice ride report of our trip.

i'm going to run the rat ninja up there. it's purpose built for those roads. there's some big distances when you run both roads, so it would be nice to have a bike with some legs. the trans taiga is another 800 miles of gravel, out and back.

plenty of reading on both roads in trip reports.
