I think we are having like 10 to 15 jeeps going on the 4th of July weekend. It's going to be males and females, probably a few kids too. If anyone is looking for something to do let me know.

As far as my place goes I'll be up for just about any weekend. Heading up Sat. to finish chores, but after that I plan on getting in a lot of riding the rest of the summer. Let's see some pics of the jeep! B.E. Coyote screwed with this post 06-15-2011 at 02:31 PM |

I despise Saturday nights, because it seems like everything ends so quickly. It's like we pack up the registration tent, then have the group photo at 6, take a few minutes to pack up a bike or 3, then the banquet at 7, back to the cabin to load more bikes, pack up gear, say goodbyes, and before you know it, BOOM... you're on I-40 wondering why the hell you only spent 5 days there instead of 7 or 10. ![]() And we suck at roughing it, as one of my cabin mates put it. Tuesday night we had ceasar chicken kabobs with pasta salad. Wednesday night was Ribeye steak "Alaskan Style" (Which is a ribeye wrapped in a tortilla... you know, because in Alaska you're in the wilderness, and often without eating utensils... apparently by what we're told). Thursday for lunch we had bratwurst and grilled potatoes/onions/carrots. Thursday night we had what I can only describe as the best meal of my entire life. My friend Jack is married to a Thai woman, and was stationed in Bankok for several years. He made Mu Kata (I think), which is kind of like "Thai BBQ". Essentially a steel bowl filled with charcoal, then topped with a collander type device. You fill the edge with a broth, which is used to cook noodles and veggies, then lay the meat of your choice (pork, beef, or chicken... we had ALL 3), across the top to cook. Everyone has their own bowl, and you essentially continuously eat until you're full. We had SO much of this stuff, and since the power was out, we were inviting friends, other cabins, and passers-by to try this wonderful meal. It was a night I'll never forget, that for once, didn't involve a woman. Friday night was hot-dogs and hamburgers as it is every year, followed by a catered banquet Saturday night. Sub-par compared to the Mu Kata. GOD that was good shit. ![]() So, if any of you wonder why I love that area, and look forward to this trip every year... that's essentially why. Something memorable like this happens EVERY year, and it's indescribible how much joy it brings me. Oh, and the total cost of the trip for lodging, gas for the bike, and food for myself and my meal for my cabin-mates? $260. GOODNIGHT everybody! :)
