Duzn't the ECU give the diagnostic computer a code? Then the code is cross referenced to tell the mechanic what specifically is screwing up ?... I doubt the diagnostic computer spit out.. "There's a running problem"........... Could be one of 3 things.. a sensor is out of whack...a mechanical problem..or the ECU itself is screwing up causing the error code..

The DL 1000 had some ECU recalls in the 06 and 07 timeframe. Worth making a quick call to Suzuki with your VIN and checking on it. Some ECU can be reflashed and some can't. Never heard of a reflash kit for the Stroms. Popular with the 'Busa crowd but never heard of it on a V-strom.

Take the bike to a Suzuki dealer. If I talk trash about Redline ACS gets all spun-up, so I'll leave it at that. I've had great luck with Casey Cycle City.

Goofed around with my 1000 for about two months...tweaking TB's and the like. Still ran like shite so I went with a Power Commander III & a custom map I found on the StromTroopers site. A guy named Chef had the same basic setup as me. Bike was smooth a butter after that.

EDIT
Also, there is a "Self Diagnosis Mode" on the '07 and up ECU's that can tell you quite a bit. If you can get to the bike, give me a call and I can walk you through those checks. Number is in your PM. The "Dealer Diagnosis Mode" is easy to activate once you find the right connector. You just put a jumper on the left two connectors. Code list is below:

Dealer Mode Linky

C00 No error
C11 Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) - 1000 Only
C12 Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS)
C13 Intake Air Pressure Sensor (IAPS)
C14 Throttle Position Sensor
C15 Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (ECTS)
C17 Intake Air Pressure Sensor (IAPS) - 07 & Up 650 Only
C21 Intake Air Temp. Sensor (IATS)
C22 Atmospheric Pressure Sensor (APS) - 1000 Only
C23 Tip Over Sensor (TOS)
C24 Ignition Signal #1 (Front Coil)
C25 Ignition Signal #2 (Rear Coil)
C28 Secondary Throttle Valve Actuator (STVA)
C29 Secondary Throttle Position Sensor (STPS)
C31 Gear Position Sensor (GPS)
C32 Injector Signal #1 ( Front)
C33 Injector Signal #2 (Rear)
C40 ISC Valve - 07 & Up 650 Only
C41 Fuel Pump Control System (Fuel Pump Relay)
C42 Ignition Switch Signal (Anti-Theft)
C44 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)
C49 PAIR Control Solenoid Valve

Wink High sided yesterday

I got tossed pretty good by the little XT yesterday. The picture illustrates what I was doing:

I was happily doing tailslides in a gravel lot, and the rear tire caught and tossed me like a sack of potatos.

My supersuit, gloves, and the ol' tuck-n-roll saved me from suffering any significant consquences from the crash.

My mistake was doing the tailslides on gravel over old pavement. The rear dug through the gravel and grabbed.

Dirtbikes are the best though, just realign the front end with a kick to the wheel, and bend the front brake back, and good to go.

+ 3 or 4.

I liked my dad coming home from deployments in the summer a lot better than during the school year......... The niceness of it all lasted longer since report cards weren't in the picture .. (that translates into a longer spell before my next ass whippin')

I've had good experiences with them, and fewer problems than other shops. So I tend to defend them.

Kinda like someone insulting your wife, and then expecting you to keep quiet.

If I had to venture a guess, it's that it's riding season, everyone has their bikes in for work, and they're getting to it as quickly as they can. Redline's a pretty small shop, and I don't know how many techs they have, but I think the owner runs a pretty tight ship there. Can't imagine him letting anyone screw around and waste time.

For what it's worth, I talked with a guy at Bike Night last night who said he's had his bike into Casey for a tire change for 3 weeks now. For tires.
