It was nice meeting you fellas as well. Thanks to all of you for help getting 'the pig' (which is its new nickname) out of the muck.

I think I've had enough for this week. The pig took 2 more mud baths before I got it back out of the trail after I left you heh. It was a blast for my first real time off pavement. I'll be out again for sure.

Upload issues

How do I upload pictures, it keeps saying the text is too long when I drag and drop the picture? What am I doing wrong?

First off, the picture has to be hosted on another site. Then you'll make a link to that site that will make it show up on here. You can't actually post pictures directly to this site.

So, when you have your off site photo somewhere, you copy it's URL address and when you post it here, you have to add after it. No spaces, etc. There is also a photo link button on the post screen that will just ask you for the URL and it will add the [img] [/img] to it and make it happen.

It will look like this:

I've found a quick way to know if the link address will work is if it has a jpg or jpeg at the end of it, it will work, if not, it likely will not.

I use SmugMug to host all my photos and love it. It's about $45 a year, but you can store unlimited amounts of photos on there. A nice safe place to store ALL of your photos in case your computer crashes. Also the owner of that site is Baldy who gives us this awesome website, so the money helps keep this site going as well. There are some free sites out there that others may be more familiar with.

It can be a tricky thing until you figure it out....Good luck!

It was good riding with you guys today. It's supposed to rain all this week. Had enough fun in the mud today.

Some more aggressive tires should help the "Pig" play better in the mud. I'm pretty sure the XR has claimed the "Pig" name. How about "Hog". At least you have the magic button.

I just registered for shen, i have question for those who have been before. Are there gas stations on the loop. I have a small tank and max range is @ 100mi. and need to know if I have to plan on carring fuel or if I can just stop and get some.

New Paint Job

Here are some before and after pictures of my 2001 KLR 650. It was the original faded green color. Now it is black and burgundy. I used black spray on bed liner and Krylon Fusion plastic paint. Also added some new turn signals on the front and still modifying the rack on the back to get the rear signals to fit. Let me know what you think.

They usually plan their loops each day to include at least one gas stop and mark the map and roll chart strip with those stops as well as mileages to optional gas stops. your 100 mile range should be more than enough to ride the maximum distance between any of the gas stops. In my opinion, you'd be better off carrying an spare heavy duty tube rather than gas.

If you plan on riding with most of the HR group we have lots of guys with big tanks and plenty of gas to share. Keep an empty water bottle with you for easy transfer.
