good news Ben, glad to hear it. I'm supposed to wait 6 weeks before pt, although I can move my arm round quite a bit now without pain.

My wife is a PT and will gladly help you find a good PT in your area or offer any rehab help or advice that she can.

Maybe, maybe not.......but some of the terrain is definitely NOT GS-able.
What does this mean?

What kinda of terrain is not GS-able? I ask becuse I am considering a G650GS.

Thanks

By GS-able, I mean 1150/1200GS. And actually, a very capable rider can take one of those pretty much anywhere. But when I say that, I'm speaking of the average GS 1200 rider. And I say this because some of the areas we were going to go to are very steep and loose, others (that we did go to) are very deep and soft sandy areas and some silt. None of this type of riding is condusive to a good time with a GS1200. You would get tired in one hour or less picking your bike up time after time. And, everyone with you would also get tired helping you pick it up time after time.

As for a F650GS, it's a great bike. I ride a Dakar F650. But the standard F650 is lacking ground clearance, wheel travel and if you do as many others do and try to outfit it with 100 lbs of crap for traveling, it will then weigh nearly 500lbs. This his very close to the stock weight of a 1200.

If you want to buy a F650, get the Dakar. Better yet, just buy a very good used F650 and put the Yammie suspension on it and upgrade the rear to a long travel Ohlin's. Strip about 40lbs of shit off it, and then ride it like you stole it. In the end, it will cost less and you'll have a better bike.

Excellent!, Where'd you go? What were the conditions? It was a perfect day for windsurfing, but it seemed a little warm for any decent winds to build. Maybe not though in your neck of the woods.

Keep an eye peeled for a PM in the next day or so.
