Motorcycle snow chains
I made a couple sets of these chains based on the design of some other ADVers with a few changes.
The crosschains are V-bar automotive chain attached with rivets to tubular nylon webbing. They fasten to the wheels with cam buckles and the wheel is protected from scratches by doubling back the webbing. I use them on a 140/80 rear and a 100/40 front but they also fit all other size tires that I have tried them on. They are used but have ~75-80% life left. There are 8 front and 8 rear chains. The fronts have 1 or two less links and shorter straps but could be interchanged with the rears in most cases. The chains cost me about $140 to make and MANY hours spent in the garage. So how about $80 plus shipping for the set ? I can't guarantee that they will fit your specific bike. Check for clearance issues before buying. PM with any questions. Here is a link in case anyone's interested in the history. - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296207 And a recent ride report showing the chains in action (starts at post 26) - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=409516&page=2

These have gotta be better than the 'insta-chain' emergency strap-on guppies I was playing with last week - there's this !@#$%^&* Ural out there I gotta catch.
At least I know that there's enough clearence between the rear wheel and paralever for chains to work. Cheers Jim |

There's been a good amount of interest in these. Maybe I should make a few more sets. Anyone else interested ?
Not sure on a price yet - I'll have to see what I can get the materials in bulk for and then probably list them in the Vendors forum. Probably somewhere around $125 to $175 per set.

I'd be interested in a set, but $175 sounds pretty steep.

If I can get 12 firm orders I can get the price down to $125 per set (8 chains per wheel). Found the most expensive component on sale at almost half price but it's a "holiday special" so I don't know how long it will last.

I'd be interested. I would have to know they would fit my tires though. The 130/90 17 I'm not worried about in the rear. I am not familiar with the front size though. 100/40? Need them to fit on a 90/90 21. There's another order if they're guaranteed.

How do they hold up? Have you had any issues with them breaking or coming loose? I would like to get a pair if they are durable enough. I ride some pretty rough-rocky terrain/tight trail.
where are you shipping from and what is your lead time? |

Shipping form Idaho. Lead time right now is undetermined as I'm waiting to see if we can get enough orders to buy in "price-break quantities". Once I get enough orders to get rolling it will only take a few days - first come, first serve.

Since this sale has turned into more of a vendor kind of sale - it is being moved to Vendors.
