Melted my Toggs...

I got my first pair of Frogg Toggs for Christmas this year. I was SO excited -- I'd been wanting some for years. It was a chilly, drizzly day on the 26th, so I immediately decided to try them out. THEY ARE AWESOME.

They're huge, so they fit right over all my gear (I look like the evil stay puffed man in my black toggs), they're waterproof, and they're windproof. Great product. About 20 mins into my ride, though, I noticed a stanky odor. Turns out that was the left calf of my toggs becoming one with my exhaust. DAMNIT . I thought this might be a problem...

Any idea how hot you have to get that shit to make it melt? If i use a heat wrap on the pipe, think that'll get me where I need to be? Can I get a piece of Tyvek and patch the hole with it?

I KNOW some of you guys have done this too, and I would suspect that some of you creative farklers have come up with some ideas -- What's your solution?

Thanks, guys!

Tyvek melts when in contact with hot metal, as you discovered.

You could contact the makers of FT to see if they have a patch kit. Otherwise, a Fedex envelope will provide a patch if you're desperate.

Do a search for your favorite retailer about 6 bucks.

FT makes pants with a heat-resistant area built in, but it's on the right side which only works for the munters on Fartley-Disabledsons and a few other cruisers.

As noted above, you can get a kit to add a heat-resistant area to the other side if you wish.
